what do you guys mean by coating? you can't see/discern coatings while the monitors are lit......?Anderstj wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 02:53Coating was my first guess and from my research the coating should actually be the same as i have on my current monitor. Im unsure if such a small PPI would annoy me that much that i had to return the monitor, 92.5 PPI to 89 PPI seems so low. Could it be backlight bleed or IPS glow? i'm not sure, i might just try buying another one from a different retailer.lizardpeter wrote: ↑11 Oct 2021, 18:40Coming from the AW2518H, which I believe also uses a 24.5" panel (but I could be wrong), I thought this Acer monitor looked sharper for some reason, and I don't use the sharpness feature either. I mean, there will be a decent PPI difference coming from your existing monitor for sure. Maybe the coating on the monitor is less appealing to you than your current one. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and don't notice any kind of grainy or blurry image. I also have 1440p monitors at 27". Obviously those look a lot better due to better PPI, and I instantly noticed the massive downgrade there when I originally went from 1440p 144 Hz to 1080p 240 Hz, but I stuck with 1080p for the competitive edge that these highest end monitors give and for the extra FPS in games.
No! PPI, just like DB (sound metric) is not linear!Anderstj wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 02:53Coating was my first guess and from my research the coating should actually be the same as i have on my current monitor. Yea, sharpness didn't help at all, but like i said earlier, it wasn't very noticeable in games, mostly text in windows and browsing stuff on the internet, and strangely id say it was the worse or most noticeable on the left side of the monitor.lyrill wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 07:31there is a super sharpness, did you try it?Anderstj wrote: ↑11 Oct 2021, 14:35Did you notice a difference in PPI? from 23.8 to 24.5 inch / difference in sharpness? most noticeable in windows / when browsing. I recently returned a XV252QF, cos of grainy/blurry image and i currently have a 23.8 inch, just wondering if a maybe got a bad monitor.CJRS wrote: ↑11 Oct 2021, 04:46This weekend I have tried the AOC 24G2Z that Notty claims to be better than all 360 hz+ screens (its only 300 euro, so not that expensive). But this is absolutely not my experience, I could tell it's more responsive and no ghosting issues compared to older models in 240hz category but no where near as snappy than on this acer. I also have the AW2721D 240hz 1440p and this xv252QF is just that good that I can't even go back to 240hz anymore. Aiming and responsiveness is for me is really a huge difference. Even compared to the new generation 240hz panels/tech. The biggest difference u will notice is microaiming on 8k polling rate and corner shots plus input lag.
Mine is manufactured in march 2021.
When it comes to clarity and colors the AW2721D absolutely shits on the xv252qf, but when it comes to performance, its the total opposite, and that's the most important for me.
The only monitors that would be considered to be an upgrade is either 1440p 360hz+ or 1080p 480hz when it gets released.
Thanks for the long reply, i learned alot. I kinda wish a 24 inch 1440p 240hz or 23.8 inch 390hz was an option right now, that would be awesome. Might just wait and see what happens in the future, do we know if stuff like that is coming anytime soon in the future?.Notty_PT wrote: ↑12 Oct 2021, 09:56No! What does that mean? It means that in theory you should tink 3ppi difference is nothing.
Imagine a 40db PC or Graphics card fan. It is "tolerable" (not my fav anyway). At 45db you are already hearing double noise, at 50db you are hearing a jet! So you don´t need 80db to hear double noise compared to 40db, see what I mean? Same with PPI.
PPI is one of those that doesn´t scale linear. Altho 3 ppi difference seems low, it is more than enough for a good eyesight to spot differences. This is why a lot of ppl complain about 1080p crispness on 24,5 inches. However you have a lot of guys using 27 inch 1080p and they can´t notice anything wrong with pixel density right?
We are all different
If you find 1080p 24,5 to be blurry, trust me, you won´t like any 24,5 screen ever. Stay away. I have the same problem btw. I mentioned a lot of 23,8 panels advantages and that´s another one. Plus remember, the smaller the pixel pitch, the better perceived pixel response time. You can try this on your current monitor. For example, run a game at 1600x900 or 1366x768 on your screen, with the exact same framerate you get at 1080p. Do fast movements. See how awful it seems? Because now you have to deal with massive pixels transitioning.
Another reason why I despise most of those AUO 24,5 panels (they seem to always manufacter that size, while BOE and Innolux use smaller ones). We have a great explanation here by Chief! -> viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8113&start=480#p72862
23,8 inch 1080p or 27 inch 1440p to me. No other option. Would GLADLY take a 24 inch or 24,5 inches 1440p. But can only get a Dell S2417DG 23,8 1440p 1ms TN, BUT.... 165hz only. Not bad, but only if it was 240hz....

FOR ANYONE WHO BOUGHT THE JANUARY BATCH OF THIS MONITOR XV252QF( can be found on the box)
On Acer website, I found a driver update for this monitor on March 2nd, which if you update this on your January batch monitor, supposedly it’ll be updated and fixed most of the bugs to be equally even with the March batch!
Here’s the link: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/s ... t/8842?b=1
And I also found the Acer display widget application which supports this specific model, also in the link I stated above!
Hopefully you guys will be able to update it and fix most of the bugs, instead of having to return it. I assume the March batch is pretty identical with the January one with just the driver update!!!
