If I could tick up the overall Gamma by 1 or 2 levels it would be perfect, but right now the shadows and dark colors are so dark it makes using it as an eSports monitor difficult. The BenQ has just as good of colors but it's just noticeably brighter without actually being backlit brighter (if that makes sense). Going on Normal or Light on the XG2431 makes the screen overall brighter (too bright) but doesn't actually fix the color issue.

I didn’t think to do that! I figured there should be a way on the monitor itself. I’ll do that tonight and see if it’s a good solution. Because I think the XG2431 could beat out the XL2546K if I can get the gamma in a better spot. The blur does seem a little bit better than the XL2546K, especially at the tops and bottoms, and when I scroll through text on the XL2546K there’s some smearing that I don’t get on the XG2431…youmirinbrah wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021, 17:20why not adjust gamma in nvidia control panel?StarWarsCoffee wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021, 16:43Does the XG2431 have any Gamma adjustments? So apparently you actually cannot adjust any of the settings via Nvidia control panel... perhaps something with the BB utility locks all of that out?youmirinbrah wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021, 17:20why not adjust gamma in nvidia control panel?StarWarsCoffee wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021, 16:43Does the XG2431 have any Gamma adjustments? The gamma on xg2431 bothers me A LOT, please let me know when you got some solutions to it.StarWarsCoffee wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021, 18:13I didn’t think to do that! I ultimately had to return the xg2431, I could never get the colors and contrast to the right levels with purexp on. I tried without purexp and yes it was better but at that point I’d rather have my 280hz tn.

I received a xg2431 a few days ago. It is a really strange monitor, it doesn't work or react like anything I've used before.
I think it's smaller than a regular 24 inch monitor, that may have a benefit of pixel density being better. They seem closer than other 24 inch monitors I've used. Unfortunately I have a supernova red pixel that is stuck. Also the controls for the OSD are garbage. Worst I've ever used. Very surprising for a new age monitor.
I wonder what kind of panel it uses as it seems very different from other panels. I personally don't think this should be marketed as a 240 hz monitor as for some reason 240 with no purexp on looks worse than set to lower refresh rates
I was doing a comparison with my Samsung G7. I have a dual monitor stand but the stand had the G7 closer than the Viewsonic. I was using for an hour or so and then decided to switch them as the g7 is a 27 and the viewsonic is a 24. So I shut stuff down and switched them. I was running a fixed 238 fps in Overwatch. Locked and Both monitors set to 240 hz refresh rate.
After I reversed the monitor positions and powered back I play on the Viewsonic for an hour or so. I was just running 1 monitor at a time, shutting the other one off. When I went to switch to the G7. I realized the Viewsonic was set to 60hz refresh rate. The overwatch fps was still 238. For a normal 240hz monitor set to 60 hz refresh, I would immediately notice and switch the refresh rate I can't play at 60 hz anymore but for some reason the viewsonic felt fine at 60 hz.
After noticing this I switched the Viewsonic to 240 hz and played a few games. To my surprise 240 hz felt way worse, not as clear and it felt like there was increased input lag. This is the opposite of going to 240 on every other monitor I've used.
So I tried 120 hz, felt good. Then tried 200 hz felt bad again but not as bad as 240. And then tried 180 which felt the best. 200 and 180 had to be custom made in nvidia control panel.
So to me, after several hours of mucking around just the basic monitor. no purexp 180 hz works the best. 240 the worst. I don't know what's going on. I don't know if I like the monitor or not. I will say this monitor will most likely be the clearest looking monitor at 1080p out there at lower refresh rates.
A week earlier I got a 280 Asus Tuf monitor I has boxed it up to return it after trying the viewsonic, my first impression was that it was super clear but there's an odd input lag thing happening above 180 hz for some reason. I think I'm going to have to revisit the ASUS.
And then again my G7 is no slouch either but I think 1440p has some input lag compared to 1080p..
I really wish I could buy a Nvidia LSAT thing so I could test things without trusting my personal feelings.
Anyone with the Viewsonic XG2431 have a similar experience?

Yeah, it's honestly holding this monitor back a tremendous amount. It just needs a straightforward gamma adjustment. I've tried messing around with other combinations of settings to 'fake it' but it doesn't quite work. All I end up getting is a brighter panel (that starts to cause eye strain compared to the BenQ) with marginally improved color balance but still not quite right.
Right now I'm trying: PureXP 'Normal', Contrast = 80, Black Stabilizer = 60 (one tick up). It's better, but the panel is just too bright for me now compared to the XG2546K which is more balanced in gamma without going brighter.

Yeah, it's a little strange to be honest. It just needs some gamma adjustment as the blacks/shadows/dark colors are all too dark regardless of brightness settings.

I think xg2431 need a firmware update to include gamma control.
