I got the VG259QM recently, if you are on PC you'll run the monitor @280Hz and won't be below 200Hz, your framerate won't affect response time either.
You can check Rtings review for more precise data regarding response time and overshoot, but with an OD of 60, 80 or 120 you shouldn't notice any disturbing overshoot or ghosting. I run OD at 120 and have no issue (OD 120 is basically a mix between OD 60 and 80, it's not a very intense OD setting as you could think).

About the ELMB, I don't use it. I didn't notice much difference between ELMB ON and OFF except the downsides of it : way lower brightness and a tad more input lag.
Same, I'm using OD120 at 280hz but I enable Adaptive Sync, there is some overshoot since OD120 scales by increasing the overshoot the lower your fps go compared to static 280hz with VRR OFF that has a more consistent overshoot pattern (that is limited to very few pixel transitions + it can be mitigated by Shadow Boost).

In Apex when my fps go as low as 140 I honestly don't notice any overshoot while playing and input lag is very consistent.
You have issue without Adaptive Sync ?
I personnally disabled it, didn't really try it out yet since I only have the VG259QM for one week now. But I've a decent PC (10700K 5GHz, RTX 3070) and easily run games like Destiny 2 and Apex at 200FPS so didn't notice any screen tearing.

By the way I noticed you also have the XL2546K, which monitor you ended up maining ? Is there such a difference of raw motion clarity between these two ?

I still have both monitors and I keep swapping between the Benq and the Asus depending what games I play and especially how many fps I can squeeze.
The XL2546K is overall a better monitor if you are a competitive player but I'm considering selling it to keep the VG259QM (that I bought at a cheaper price) so I can buy a 480hz monitor in the future.

The XL2546K with Dyac is noticeably clearer and it let you gather more informations about your surrounding and recoil control feels easier but sometime I wonder if the input lag penalty is truly worth the tradeoff, the same is true when talking about crosstalk, it is minor with VT tweaks but games like Apex and especially Overwatch that makes you track enemies with a lot of map verticality compared to games like Valorant or CS can threw you off due to crosstalk.

The VG259QM has better tuned overdrives and lower latency, it's hard to notice screen tearing at 280hz but at the same time using Adaptive Sync with 280hz scanout is sweet.

I'm trying to see if I can reach Diamond in Apex like I did on the Benq, if I can achieve the same rank with the Asus I'll probably sell the Benq since I don't need two high refresh rate monitors so I'll save the money for my next monitor upgrade (whether it will be a high refresh rate LCD or an OLED monitor if they will launch in the next years).

By crosstalk you mean overshoot ?

For games like Valorant I know that almost all pros have DyAc off. It seems DyAc doesn't help much in slower shooters with more static situations.

Did you try your BenQ without DyAc ? How does its raw motion clarity compare to other monitor such as the VG259QM ?

I play a lot of Aim trainer (Kovaak/Aimlab, maybe you heard about Voltaic ranks) and I feel like latency will always win over motion clarity in terms of gaming performance. Having clearer environment with DyAc for example will always be more pleasant but won't make you play better (and can even be worse with the add of input lag). I know many good Aim trainer player with a BenQ who use DyAc OFF.

At the beggining I was torn between the XL2546K and VG259QM. But I managed to find the VG259QM for 280 euros, while the BenQ was still 500 euros in my contry, so didn't really hesitate.

I think what will make me switch is a BenQ IPS 360Hz w/DyAc or 480Hz monitor if it comes out one day.

I mean strobe crosstalk, it is a type of strobing artifacts.

Yes, AMA High and AMA Premium can be compared to the VG259QM's OD80, they both have similar response times with these two overdrives and similar overshoot levels however from my experience overshoot on TN panels always look slightly clearer compared to IPS.

That being said there is no reason not to use OD120 on the VG259QM, it has 2.5ms g2g with very limited overshoot at 280hz and it is the best overdrive.

Raw panel performances are still better on the XL2546k where for example you can easily distinguish the white dots on the UFO regardless of the overdrive used but overdrive tuning is not the best (unless you decide to enable Freesync on the XL2546k, this will turn AMA High into a slightly more aggressive AMA Off, improving response times without causing any overshoot).

When playing kovaak I noticed that I hit higher scores with the Benq but at the same time I get more consistent scores with the Asus.

The VG259QM for 280euro is a steal, it might sound stupid to put it this way but you are paying 1 euro for 1hz compared to 2 euro for 1 hz for the Benq  .

A good middle ground between these two monitors would be the XG2431 or you can even go for the best high refresh rate monitor on the market: the XV252Q_F/Aopen 25XV2Q F (If you are willing to spend 500 euro for the XL2546K you might as well get the XV252QF, the european Acer store sells it for 549,00 €).

I see that you play apex. Do you play with 280Hz or 240hz? and what OD? :D

280hz OD120 with Shadow boost set to 3.

Can I ask, do you use display or gpu scaling and do you tick the override scaling mode set by games. And is there a reasoning for why you do whichever? Thanks

No I don't use any scaling since I always natively run the monitor at 1080p.

Hi guys,

Just got the VG259QM and was wondering if someone could give me their best settings for playing mainly CS:GO and Warzone and Apex from time to time.

Thank you in advance.

I still cannot get it to 280hz, on 240hz works fine. This is a link to all my settings: https://prnt.sc/1l7bDfd3YfOE . I did AMD pixel patcher aswell and LCD reduced/Exact Reduced. Any solutions? :(
