Yes, but most of these modern games take a hit on FPS when there is a lot of things being rendered onto the screen. So the point of G-Sync is when your FPS does drop, the module drops the refresh rate of the monitor to match your FPS so you don't get tearing. If you're playing any game from the past 2-3 years on maximum settings(Battlefield 3/4, Metro, Planet Side II, Tomb Raider), it's going to take a toll on your graphics card.
I meant more like 'Do I keep VSync on or off?'

CS:GO, I keep VSYNC off, but limit FPS in the engine to 140.

In fact, on most games I keep VSync off, but I guess if I am producing more than 144FPS, then there is no difference between GSync on and VSync on, right? Monitor gets rid of frames to keep the 144 going strong.

Huh, I'm going to do some tests tonight. I do know that I have my Global Settings in nVidia to default to GSync on all the time, so maybe it doesnt matter what I have set in game?

There is a difference. With vsync off, there is tearing. With gsync, there is no tearing.

The question remains, can I handle the downgrade to TN.

From personal experience - i dont think its healty to endlessly wait or obsess about what could be made. Just get the best toy you can afford and spend more time enjoying yourself instead of worrying. The pg278q seems to be the best one atm if price is not an issue.

Ill wait for the 27" 1080p benq myself, cuz i aint spending 800eur on a monitor.

I have a 1440p, 133hz, IPS screen already. So I'm finding it hard to decide if the extra features of the Swift outweigh the downgrade in panel type.

It's funny though, my neurological disorder creates yellow clouds in the monitor i am using. And im thinking it might be because it's so bright, problem is i can't see much with the brightness turned down plus that's where the pwm flicker becomes a problem. So In a sense, a matte screen might also be better for my eyes/brain. Another thing to factor in.

Id say go with the pg278q... its a legit 144hz 1440p first of all, not wasting time with tinkering or whatever.
Secondly a fast TN wont turn into a smear-fest ghost-fare with high refresh rates like ips does. And i would recomend matte over glossy for someone who has neurological issues, im sure the glossy reflections and color smearing doesnt help.

Also, its the first 8bit tn, so the colors will be only a little bit worse.
But most importantly - gaming is not about looking at a static picture its about motion. So with all that i mentioned + gsync its gona be miles better for motion than your ips.

And if u still think its too bright, set your FLUX to turn down blues during the daytime too instead of just nighttime.

IMHO.

On this catleap 2b, it goes even more yellow with flux. Is it meant to go red? I think it's because this monitor is very blue light focused. Another reason to move away from the catleap. (blue light is not great for us)

May need to give them a week or two in order to conduct a proper and thorough review, though
