I know it was mentioned a few posts back and it was picked up on by Manuel from Nvidia but being able to set Pulsar on/off in NCP/NV App on a per game basis would be such a nice QoL feature. Just out of habit I toggle it on/off when I'm playing games but it would be nice to never worry about it.
I wonder if we'd ever be able to get the cropped 25" mode supported in a similar way too. Applying via the NV App the 'aspect ratio' per game. I like playing FPS games at 25" but everything else at full size.
My only concern with my Asus Pulsar monitor is how hot it gets. I know people don't like active cooling in monitors but I think this might have benefited from it. The main rear part of the monitor is fine, it's the edges that seem to be the warmest (noticeable when I use the menu nub).

Well... I guess full hdmi2.1 support would mean 1440p, 360Hz, (maybe) single head, for sure no dsc etc. The whole thing. At least for 8-bit. I could easily feed my LGTV via DP adapter and then put pulsar to the HDMI port and all connection problems could magically disappear.

I see, I think Nvidia said they are not going to do Pulsar over HDMI so PC users would always need the Display Port connected anyway.
It supproted all the HDMI 2.1 features on my PS5 Pro so wondered what else was needed.

The other way around is that active cooling other than noise would also result in more internal dust build up and if the fan starts rattling or dying you'd face the issue where passive functionality is probably not going to work as it is designed with dependency of the active cooling, unlike here.
I guess we will see how it will go in the long term of things, a friend for example is still rocking the Dell U3011 since ~2011 (which has had a ton of burning hours at this point) and that thing is literally a microwave when sitting in front of it. The monitor can draw up to 200-250W of power which is basically the power draw of older generation x80/x80Ti class GPUs actually heating up the room.
Comparing that to the Pulsar, which specs show to be roughly 70kWh per 1000 hours in HDR mode, that would be roughly 70 watts, maybe a little less without HDR and medium to high brightness levels, the PG279Q would likely be around 40-50W with medium-high brightness are in a total different league compared to the U3011 which didn't even need active cooling, the heat that is output from the top is quite hot and levels above of what these monitors seem dissipate.
So if it is done right I think it can be done without issue and hopefully people won't be too worried about the overheating. I think the thin bezels make it seem worse than it actually is for the internals.

This is also why I'm even more disappointed in their lack of care for the 120,240,360Hz ULMB2 mode and the artificial lock to TMDS bandwidth HDMI port...
In fact, if these models were priced reasonably at launch (<450€) and had a properly working ULMB2 mode (akin to the PG27AQN), I would've bought.
I assume that they'll target a much more aggressive curve this time around, perhaps a even larger voltage boosting behavior since they'll incorporate MiniLED into it.

Even 165 Hz (global-scan) strobing feels gives me discomfort, but far less than 120-165Hz blur.
I am just not interested in going back to a modern ips with its colors muddied by grey outside of the most saturated colors. Although I would like to try 5k 120hz xdr. Apple always did know how to get pure colors somehow.

Anything higher than that (3840px/sec) is just too fast to track easily.
7860px/sec looks funny because its so fast it looks like its going in slow motion.

Hm im not sure what gave me the impression this first gen things had 40 to 200 zones. It is just 10 zones. The acer 5k probably won't either.

I forgot to clarify, I was commenting for higher hz/pulsar modes since I'm comparing to my CRT@120hz. The comments about resolution still apply though even for the 60hz mode. CRT can remain clear to the point that the time for my brain to react and my eyes to physically track are the bottleneck. We aren't quite at that point for higher resolutions, however I still consider the 60hz mode to be very good if not the best 60hz motion on a flat panel money can buy currently.
How good the 60hz mode is for someone depends on usecase alot. 60hz locked content on consoles I feel makes the ULMB mode much more appealing as the massive clarity gains probably offset the 10ms lag for most people. However for PC, even on 60hz locked content you have to eat lag for giving up VRR/higher hz and then you have to add the strobe lag, so it's more like +20ms which is way too much for me personally. The lag difference gets worse when comparing games that do not have locked framerates and can be played higher into the VRR range.
I find it's much easier to eyetrack faster speeds if you reduce the amount of UFOs by increasing separation as that's more like eyetracking a singular target ingame. The link below spaces them 2560px apart so there should only be one on screen at a time with 1440p resolution. I feel I already eyetrack much faster than 3840 when whipping a camera and lining up a target in first person games. Mind you that's at higher hz, but even at 60 I can eyetrack 4000px/sec and the text is only really legible at 10PW.

That is why it is such a shame that it has that amount of lag. If it only had input lag somewhere around one frame, roughly 16 ms, like the ViewSonic XG2431, it would be the ultimate display for consoles.
If future updates manage to reduce that lag, I would buy the monitor again without hesitation.
