Re: Acer 390Hz monitor - XV252QF
I’m really confused how everyone here keeps valuing the opinions of “pro players” who likely haven’t even tried this monitor. Just because they don’t use it, it doesn’t mean it’s not the best. What about the dozens of CS and Valorant pros using the Benq XL2546K with Dyac off? That monitor straight up loses to the Acer. Just go look at the review. With the best overdrive settings on both, Acer is faster in terms of rise/fall time and total response time. It also has significantly less latency and a much higher refresh rate. Plus, if a “pro” player can’t play well on different monitors that are all top tier, that’s more of a personal problem.
Plus, 99% of these pro players are good at the game they play because of the incredible amount of hours they put into it, not their monitor choice. I’ve always said that hardware makes a big difference, but what makes an even bigger difference is just grinding the game. These pros (I’m especially looking at the old Fortnite pros) just played 12+ hours a day and brute forced becoming the best. Same can be said of most Valorant players. Most know nothing of hardware, computer science, latency, etc. They just get what they’re sponsored by and what’s recommended to them. They’ll still be better than you are, until you put in a comparable amount of hours and dedicate your life to it like they do.

100% Agreed, it's a common fallacy to blindly copy pro settings and setups. In reality these people are just very good at the game they are playing. In games like CS these (sub)millisecond differences aren't nearly as important as the hard work these people put in to be at the top. I remember when 240 hz monitors came out there was still a decent pro player playing on a 60 hz screen.

That's a great price dude congrats! I don't know the best color and sharpness settings but definitely enable the dyac plus. I am not sure what overdrive is the best. Maybe checkout the XL2546K topic here on blurbusters. For the best NVIDIA and ingame settings check out https://m.twitch.tv/clip/SpeedyAmazonia ... q8oLT8DAE8 TGLTN has the same monitor.PiCKiN wrote: ↑23 Feb 2022, 15:11Thanks for the reply dude. I was able to get the XL2546K for $200 on OfferUp. What monitor settings do you recommend?daviddave1 wrote: ↑22 Feb 2022, 08:48Yes, for PUBG the XL2546k is better. Would you not recommend the XL2546k for someone that already owns the Acer 390hz? I main PUBG right now and I never reach 390 fps in this game. I really wanted to try the Benq but idk if it’s a smart move for what it cost.axaro1 wrote: ↑21 Feb 2022, 17:45
There is 0.2ms variation between this monitor and the two other 360hz monitors tested, absolutely unusable
I just ordered the XV252QF, maybe I will make a video comparing 280hz strobing with 390hz strobing, I was a little bit worried because I saw a guy complaining about input lag early in this thread (which was debunked by this last finding + optimum tech and fr33thy results) and someone saying that it was a terrible monitor for Overwatch (I know an EU Contender player consistently top 50 that uses it as his main).
My issues with both the 2546K and VG259QM were that I either had to strobe with overshoot or there was no point in strobing at all, OD locked for the Asus and AMA Off on the Benq was suboptimal, AMA high and Premium were similar to OD80 with the Benq hiding overshoot slightly more due to the insanely long strobing window [ 83.3% vs ~70% on the Asus].
Can't wait to test it in Overwatch and Apex.
TGLTN pro PUBG player was ranting pretty hard in his stream after he had to play on a sponsored IPS 360 hz Alienware on a Korean PUBG tournament and lost early on. TGLTN ranted that he does not care about beautiful colors or inputlag in PUBG when there is motionblur. The Dyac and the TN panel on the Zowie XL2546K where essential for the lowest motionblur and best clarity possible. He literally said IPS is crap for PUBG. I don't think he only said that cause he just lost in the tourney.
I remember playing PUBG on the Zowie XL2546K the visibility was extremely good.
The colors of IPS displays are only superior on the esthetic side.
On the TN Zowie XL2546K u can change the colors and sharpness making the enemy's stand out like nothing else. It reminded me of a extra digital vibrance setting to make the enemy's "pop out" so they can't hide in the darkness or somewhere else.
For visibility (and thereby tracking the enemy's) the colors on the TN Zowie XL2546K are way better then the colors the IPS panels generate.
On most IPS panels u can't adjust the colors or sharpness. On the IPS Acer 390hz u can adjust the colors a little. But because of the low brightness the motion blur reduction (VRB) gives u not really notice it. Plus these settings cannot be saved! (Its a bug!)
On the IPS Acer 390hz with VRB on extreme there is more blur then on the TN Zowie XL2546K Dyac plus with VRB on extreme the Acer 390hz is not very bright.
If u only play PUBG and no other games the XL2546K is the best I think: U see enemies the best.
Also keep in mind: AUO is working on a 24.5" 1080p 360Hz TN panel for a while now. https://tftcentral.co.uk/news/au-optron ... -july-2021 Zowie wont be using IPS imo. The difference in sight is to big compared to TN. So they will prob. again use a AUO TN panel.
When Zowie comes out with a 360/390/hz TN DYAC I will definitely give it a try. It will be the best of both worlds.

I know u probably can't say anything about it, but I am kinda desperate: Can u give any info about a TN 360 1080P DYAC monitor, is there any possibility we can see this monitor in 2022?"

Re: Acer 390Hz monitor - XV252QF
I just got the XV252QF and I tested it for 2 hours, I didn't bother using Acer's DP and sticked to my VeSa certified DP 1.4 1.8m cable, no flickering, 390hz worked flawless out of the box.
No dead pixels (or subpixels).
My first impression is that this monitor is quite good, the ufotest looks good both with VRB ON and OFF, I can distinguish the 3 white dots on the UFO with and without strobing, which was only partially possible with my VG259QM ELMB OFF at 240hz and it was a straight line at 280hz (I could distinguish the 3 dots only with the 2546K, both with AMA off and High/Premium, the ufotest looks like AMA High with no overshoot and some minor ghosting, which is true only for dark transitions, with some Black Boost tweaking it's very close to the reference ufotest).
390hz with VRB off feels super responsive in Overwatch, microcorrections with a bigger refresh rate headroom feel effortless.
When enabling VRB (that I can't fully use due to outputting 200-300fps) I noticed a good improvement in flicks and overall spatial awareness during teamfights.
Let me elaborate: one of the issues with my VG259QM at 280hz with ELMB was losing track of the enemies during close range 180/270 degrees tracking (when playing charachters such as Tracer in OW), with the XV252QF, both in OW and Apex, it feels a lot easier to track an enemy during a spray regardless of the movements, which is exactly what I was looking for in a monitor.
I didn't try comparing 8khz vs 1khz mice yet, I used the Viper8khz at 4000hz.
During the crosstalk test I was surprised to see that it does have less crosstalk than my VG259QM at 280hz when strobing, a lot less (tested at 960pps)
There are 15 rows when using Blurbusters Crosstalk Test.
The first row on top has some very minor crosstalk, 2nd row down to 10th row has no crosstalk, 11th and 12th row is similar to the first top row and the last 3 rows suffer from crosstalk, you can still distinguish the 3 dots to a degree but they tend to blend with each other.
I'll surely tweak VT to the fullest to get the most out of this panel, still less crosstalk than both the 2546K and the VG259QM.
So far I settled to 390hz VRB ON, Black Boost 8, Super Sharpness ON (also a good improvement over VividPixel and comparable to Zowie's sharpness slider set to 7~8).
Overall I'm really impressed by this panel, I was expecting it to be as smeary as my VG259QM but with more smoothness and lower latency but there is a noticeable improvement in motion clarity, this monitor definitely stays on my desk.

Re: Acer 390Hz monitor - XV252QF
Surprised you like the 390hz over Xl2546k in OW. I thought 390hz is a smoother image but still preferred TN panel for flick shots.
Re: Acer 390Hz monitor - XV252QF
Being able to see more frames during a flick shot might be the reason why I prefer the Acer even though the Benq is clearer during the flick itself, although not artifact free both with AMA Off and High (the 2546S had better overdrive tuning from what I gathered while using the same panel).
I preferred the 2546K over the VG259QM for games like R6S and Apex (not for Overwatch, where latency was a big factor for hitscans) due to how good dyac was when tracking an enemy during recoil screen shaking but I can't say the same after trying 390hz with VRB, tracking enemies with my eyes feels effortless.
At 240hz the Benq surely is the top performer from a competitive standpoint, first gen IPS is not flawless in the motion clarity department.

Re: Acer 390Hz monitor - XV252QF
Nice. I like the crosstalk description. Is crosstalk any better at lower refresh rates like 240 or 120? With and without VT tweaks?
...Increasing fov can help alot during close range when u lose track of the enemies.
Re: Acer 390Hz monitor - XV252QF
Which monitor should I buy for competitive overwatch with strobing, The Acer or the Viewsonicm, is the image that much clearer than the Acer? or does the 390hz with VRB give it the edge over the sonic.
Re: Acer 390Hz monitor - XV252QF
At 240hz the crosstalk behaviour is the exact same without any VT tweak, I didn't test at 120. I will try to VT tweak 390hz soon and use the same pixel clock to tweak VT at 240.
I use maximum FOV for almost every single game I play (except for Battlefield titles).
