my mag251rx when viewed against a completely white screen has yellow zones (piss stains haha) but no blueish tints. but i've sort of accepted that there's no QA on gaming panels and/or proper calibration and either i get this or blueish tints or backlight bleeding issues, i've just decided to live with it. but, no blueish tints, that's for sure on mine.speancer wrote: ↑09 Sep 2020, 15:37Your post is confusing me a little. Your final personal best IPS monitor (in terms of fast competitive play and motion handling), also judging from previous posts, is MSI MAG251RX, yes? The other two best picks would be ASUS VG259QM and Alienware AW2521HFL?RLCScontender wrote: ↑09 Sep 2020, 04:07based off a thousands of IN PRACTICE tests, ANY MONITOR where the response time has the least possible ghosting but never passing the point of no return(where overshoot begins). It came down to 3 monitors. I only CHOSE one monitor, and that is RLCSCOntender's MAIN and i will use this monitor to participate in RLCS season 10 and 11.
There is no problem at all with MAG251RX availability in Poland. I already had one and returned it, my unit had 5 stuck pixels and bluish tint on left side and upper side. My brand-new VG259QM (manufactured in April 2020) also has bluish tint on left side... and Predator XB273 X also had this issue, blush tint on left side. Did you or anyone else here notice anything like that? I have no idea what's up with this, makes me frustrated. I can clearly see bluish tint on the left side of the screen, it makes colours look dimmer and whites/grays look bluish. I thought it was one time issue, but it's my 3rd 240 Hz IPS monitor I see that f***ing bluish tint on. ASUS VG279QM had yellowish/orangish tints here and there, but they were nowhere as distracting as the bluish/dim ones.RLCScontender wrote: ↑05 Sep 2020, 20:07This is my #1 overall pick and it really is the ultimate gaming monitor. This monitor should be monitor of the year of 2020. The MSI MAG251RX. the MSI is very difficult to get in europe but in the USA, it's not that hard to get but the sellers are jacking up the prices.

okay, after further inspection I do have a extremely slight case of blueish tint on the left side, but it's only visible against a grey background, it's so slight that I never noticed it in real time use, whereas the piss stains are relatively quite visible.

Yep, I had a lot of issues with monitors I bought in terms of quality. I also forgot to add that my brand-new VG259QM has very visible, bright stuck pixel in the top middle part... I'm 100% returning it, but first I'll test it. First impressions in performance are good. Guess this is just my "luck" for defects... I am really "lucky" when it comes to hardware defects, believe me

Try 280hz OD120, I've been running my VG259qm with these settings for almost a month and it's definitely the best mode for this monitor.speancer wrote: ↑09 Sep 2020, 19:52

I really enjoy playing competitive games at 280hz, compared to 240hz you get -15% image persistence and input lag, according to Rtings tests of OD120 at 280hz apparently the slowest Rise/Fall transition is actually 3.4ms (and the refresh window is 3.57ms) so it's actually possible to run this monitor at 100% Rise/Fall inside the refresh.
OD120 has only a single bad transition, which is 0 to 20, so a very dark one, you can actually use Shadow Boost to mitigate it since it would be like shifting every dark transition a couple of steps closer to a lighter one, this will make it look like your monitor deletes the first row of 0 to X transitions and it will behave more like 20 to X, and as you can see 20 to X is extremely good.
The Asus panels are definitely binned differently, 2.6ms for avg for Rise/Fall is impressive.

280hz is not a massive difference compared to 240hz, but being able to display +40 frames each second is sweet.
It's not something you instantly notice when switching 240hz to 280hz but if you have been playing at 280 for an hour and switch back to 240hz you will notice it.

How is coating on AW2521HF ? It is bad ? I have currently VG259QM which looks OK,but minimum brightness is slightly too high and Dell can go lower, but I heard that coating is bad/grainy on Dell.

Was thinking the same thing lol. I already bought the Asus VG259QM but I was waiting for his review on all these monitors but that was like 2 months ago lol. Not that I care since I'm not paying him to do this, just seems he doesn't want to disclose all this info and goes from one monitor to the next while there still hasn't been a full comparison of all the ones he has tested already. Oh well!

He seems to change his mind weekly on his favorite monitor, just get one that have good reviews from Youtube reviewers that show stats, or best to try them yourself, the VG259QM seems to be a great choice too, I should be getting mine soon to test.jon52800 wrote: ↑10 Sep 2020, 13:59Was thinking the same thing lol. Nice good luck with your testing! I have been happy with my VG259QM! Not a pro gamer, just striving to get back to that CRT level of motion clarity I miss playing games on in my youth. $320 with no tax was a great price and Rtings review of it was pretty good so that helped validate the purchase.
I personally couldn't justify spending for the 360hz Asus at $700 since it is only 1080p and I am not competitive enough to warrant the extra $. Waiting now to see if more 1440P 240+HZ options appear since I'd be willing to spend more for the extra resolution for AAA single player games I play as well.

Re: 05/22/2020 UPDATE. The IPS 240hz monitor tier list.(I've measured/tried the all) and my honest explanation why.
I do apologize for not posting the vg259qm review sooner. I was supposed to post it yesterday but my motherboard's crappy electrical shielding caused a huge power surge. It took my GPU, CPU, both my memory ram units. The only thing that survived was my PSU. I thought it was my PSU at first but after looking at it, the slot where i put my i7 10700k has crappy shielding. So when i overclocked both my PSU/GPU, it caused a monumental power surge.
That fried my MOBO(z490 unify). Bent the pins and power surged my CPU, and messed up my GPU's internal electric grid. it also rendered both my ram chips useless.
also, i had to deal with Dell who sent me a replacement for my alienware aw2521hfl yet they sent a CRAPPIER and more defective version (my unit has a hairline scratch with no dead pixels or backlight bleed, but yet Dell sent me a replacement with 4 dead pixels.)
ttkld;l i had a crappy day yesterday. Now i'm stuck with 4 dead pixels and NO PC. so please bare with me.
For anyone curious how bad my day was yesterday, i made an unboxing video of me opening my aw2521hfl replacement. You can see the ruins of my PC

oh boy, got a message from the "company" bribing me to change the 1 rating i gave the mobo to a 5 rating for monetary compensation on amazon.
not gonna happen. it's time for a cccombo breaker (since this mobo has perfect reviews so far on amazon)

Having tried both monitors I can say that the Alienware gets way dimmer than the Asus like you said. And the coating is noticeably worse, especially on white backgrounds. I wouldn't say that it's something that you can't get used to, as it's still less grainy than most TN gaming monitors.
