Looks like we are so close to 240hz OLED gaming monitors coming out. Short Circuit reviews a prototype of a 240hz OLED gaming monitor.

If it only was 27 inch and had native GSync.

Yeah I'm hoping for 1080P at 240HZ OLED but at this point it doesn't seem like they are going to make one. I would be fine with 27 or 32 at 1440P and not bendable like the one reviewed.

Who asked for high refresh rate 45" ultrawide though? Does the price include a new bigger desk too? Also this screen size and resolution is equal to pixel density of 27" @1080p, 81-82 ppi. I thought people didn't like that combo. And on top of that if pixel layout is triangular than it's a big no for text. In a way specs are a bit overkill to justify the unnecessary high price. But I'm sure 27" 1440p 240Hz is just around the corner too.

Also there is a possibility after 240 Hz OLED hits the market people still won't be satisfied with given motion clarity. We don't realize how actually close are today's best TN or IPS to OLEDs, they're not that far off. Ultra high refresh rate OLEDs or other instant gtg panels is what we need - eliminating phantom array effect is something that is not discussed about too often, but in the end that is what we are all seeking for. So still waiting for that 1000+Hz/fps eyegazm.

Do you mean because of missing variable overdrive? Gigabyte, out of all, with their Smart OD has proven that variable overdrive without a module is in fact possible, therefore nvidia's overpriced G-sync is unnecessary. FI27Q-X from two years ago has a variable overdrive Balance. Although Smart OD on other monitors is not tuned well. They just need to adjust it a little, see here.

The debate on the G-SYNC premium needs to be nuanced:

- Accuracy of gametime:photontime sync (FreeSync is historically less accurate in this line-item, being driver driven)
- Quality and reliability of LFC behaviors
- Latency consistency of VRR range enter/exit events (very important for latency purists)
- VRR overdrive quality
- Great integration with Reflex Latency Analyzer

NVIDIA native G-SYNC has superior dynamic overdrive in my experience, at least most of the time, but once LCD GtG becomes fast (e.g. new 1ms-GtG panels of 240Hz+) the edge kind of waters down.

However, I've seen top-league FreeSync implementations outperform lesser quality native G-SYNC implementations, so there's a bit of venn diagram overlap.

The bottom line is that the native G-SYNC premium is definitely worth it to some of us, but not to others.

Damn... If it only was 27-32", had no curve, and was 4k... And it better be QD-OLED!

Native G-Sync is better. It has far better granularity.

Yes G-SYNC it's better under microscope, not sure if it's worth the money. For variable overdrive its probably unnecessary.
