second question is about the full screen optomization option in windows ive seen a couple people talk about it and im just a bit confused if i should leave it as it is or not
and lastly is about the game mode option should i have this on or off ?

Depends on the monitor model implementation and game. HDR is more related to picture than performance in games.

Fullscreen optimizations is the default in Windows 10 and later, and applies a hybrid fullscreen/borderless mode that acts like exclusive fullscreen when the game window is focused, but allows adaptive DWM when the game window is unfocused for quicker alt+tabs and support for external OS-level overlays like the Windows game bar, volume bar, etc.

Game Mode sets a higher priority on the currently open game process and prevents Windows from downloading or installing OS updates while the game is running.
I leave it enabled (on Win 11), but up to you.

would i be best just leaving hdr mode to off then just turning it to on when i want to play a hdr title ? (res evil village for example)
for the full screen optimizations should i leave it as is ?
and yeah i think ill keep game mode on too

What is your monitor model?

For 99% of games, if you're running them in exclusive fullscreen, there's no reason not to leave it enabled (it doesn't affect games run in borderless or windowed mode).
The only games I personally disable fullscreen optimizations for is the DX11 Souls series, since they lock the physical refresh rate to 60Hz if you don't.

As far as I'm aware, yes, it's the system default for every game on the latest versions of Windows 10 and 11.

Don't bother enabling HDR mode on that model then. Peak brightness on that panel is 350 nits, and you need at least 600 nits for a decent HDR experience. It's just a gimmick at that nit level, especially on TN-type panels, which don't have near enough of a contrast ratio to be effective for HDR.
Basically, that model will look better in SDR mode.

Again, it's a Souls-specific quirk. I've played hundreds of games with fullscreen optimizations (which has nothing directly to do with G-SYNC, by the way), and that's the only engine I've experienced that issue (or any like it) in.

ok its good to know that i have this fourum to come to if anything happens i dont undestand,
in RTSS if i got one fps limit in global set to lets say 80, then in RTSS for a program do the two overlap ? or can i leave them both on the same time or is this the same case as nvcp the global version applies to everything, unless you override it per game profile ?,
or do i need to make sure i set global to 0 if im ever using one of the games i got a custom limit for within RTSS ? hope this makes sense
