Currently I have a benq Xl2430T (1080p TN with strobbing but no adaptive sync). Not really worried about viewing angles or color accuracy too much. Current one is good enough. For gaming and remote working (programming).

I'm looking to upgrade to 1440p and prefer keep strobing and get adaptive sync on top. I've read a bit here on the forums, not much, but it seems the current implementation of combining vrr with strobing aren't working as great? is it even worth it or should I get a model that has both but choose which one based on game? Or even ditch strobing?

I'm also interested potentially in the new 240hz panels. Not buying a new monitor every other year so thinking about some "future proofing". To profit from 240 hz, do I need to have 240 fps in-game? (because given GPU costs, that is cost-prohibitive really)

Additional required feature: height adjustable stand

On top I dislike small text. So I think it will need to be a 32" model to preserve scaling/font sizes. dpi scaling is out of the question as the whole point is to have more screen space for working.

less blur over colors so I guess IPS better than VA?

Gigabytes offerings seems nice as quick switching of input source would be very helpful due to remote working:
M32Q
FI32Q-X (240 hz)
LG 32GQ850-B (expensive)
Corsair Xeneon 32QHD240 (because it's easily available which is in general a problem here)
PG329Q (availability as a big plus)

Any other recommendations?

Considering how other same spec monitors are priced FI32Q X is relatively cheap. 240Hz feels amazing on desktop so working on it will be nice and panel is latest gen so gtg is fast enough. I'd like to see Gigabyte make a cheaper M32Q X model with same panel. For games it would be ideal to have those 240 fps for full 240Hz experience but vrr will help there so not much to worry about. Even if you cant push 240 you still gain some latency benefits from 240Hz.

165Hz isn't bad either while being much cheaper. I'm using M32Q and it does the job. However after updating from RX 580 to RX 6650 XT display started to flicker at 170Hz OC while it worked flawlessly on old gpu. Amd drivers stuff... I had to work around it by doing a custom 168Hz resolution. So that's something to keep in mind if u're on RX 6000 gpu.

Regarding vrr strobing, it works well for frame rates fluctuating about 20% below input refresh rate (e.g. down to ∼200fps at 240Hz, ∼140fps at 170Hz), the closer to input Hz the better. Below that it may start to feel like strobe OFF, or better said a mix of strobe OFF and ON mode (viewtopic.php?p=73457#p73457). If you'd want low frame rates to feel like proper strobe ON than input refresh rate needs to be reduced which is kinda pointless because ideally you want monitor to be set to max Hz for vrr. Aim Stabilizer Sync still synchronizes to frame rate and removes screen tearing, it's just that blur reduction benefits are not as good below those 20%. It's more or less the same story with other vrr strobing implementations.

M32Q strobes at dim ∼100 nits, has red ghosting due to ksf phosphor which is uncomfortable imo. FI32Q X doesn't have ksf and it strobes at high ∼230 nits, however brightness is locked so if this is too bright you'll have to mitigate with other settings like contrast, black eq, gamma...

Ok thanks for this info. Does this limitations also apply to other "newer" IPS displays like the PG329Q or just gigabytes implementation?

Currently my benq xl2430t is at 100% with strobbing on and according to reviews that is about 170 nits which seems pretty good to me. 100 seems to dark while 230 is rather bright.

PG329Q is even worse. It double strobes even at reduced input refresh rates.

I didn't find good Aim Stabilizer OD Balance shot but it should look similar to M27Q X Balance, with a hair less overshoot. There is that one from TFT Central but it looks like he didn't warm up the panel before testing so its looks very slow/smeary.
