By now it should be noticable that many people first start having input lag or similar issues after getting a new PC. Even after buying many different parts and multiple PCs the issue does not seem to get better.

What if, it doesn't get better because all the new parts are missing something, that the old computer always had... an EHCI-Controller for example.

I am no expert (and very lazy), but dumbed down EHCI-Controller means for me: Native USB 2.0

Sure, an XHCI-Controller also has USB 2.0 Ports. But these are still connected to the USB 3.0 ports and maybe "share the latency" that they might cause.

I, to this day, claim that I had 1:1 mouse control with my old computer. One of the times when I felt that the mouse behaviour was much better is when I plugged my mouse to another USB port - and I am speculating that it was an USB 2.0 port connected to the EHCI controller.
One of the reasons being that I have never noticed a difference between USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports on the newer computers.

I don't think one's input lag issue will be solved by getting an older mainboard and CPU, because it is just one of many culprits. But currently I am asuming that I will never get the same 1:1 mouse input if an EHCI-Controller is not given.

In most cases I think it's power-saving, multiplane overlay, dwm, network settings.

Are you on a Ryzen CPU? Apparently the USB ports that are connected to the CPU instead of the chipset can cause issues with input devices.

Exactly the same. Old pc was one of the best , new on ryzen 5800x3d and 6900xt is smooth and uncontrollable.

No I am using i7-9700K currently. I tried Ryzen once too and it was worse than an Intel CPU imo.

I tried that but I wasn't happy with it. One of the reasons being that I only hit 970hz instead of 1000hz polling rate max. Losing 30hz is not "bad" but there might be other issues than that - if it is not even capable of 1000hz.
Also my system always felt more worse if there are more PCIe slots occupied - more latency or whatever.

The reason you are not hitting 1000hz polling rate is because of the USB 2.0 or something else?

Google "ryzen usb bug". Here's a reddit thread about it. During high CPU load, the CPU-connected USB ports can become unreliable. Having the performance of your mouse (or keyboard) be independent of CPU load sounds like a good idea to me, so maybe put them on the ports connected to the chipset, not the CPU.
