So this monitor is famous for it's ghosting but I've been always using it on normal response time to eliminate ghosting.
Right now it is ghosting on normal response time as well.
What could it be?
Nvidia driver maybe ?
It's kinda random and not that much noticable in game unless you are looking at the sky but it still exists whatsoever.

When you say he's famous for his ghosting, what do you mean ?
Because the AW2518HF has never been recognized as an excellent monitor for this, because it has a lot of overshoot and does not have a very fast feeling of input lag either, after all it is a very old screen.
I don't know what is causing your random experience, try doing a DeviceCleanUp from time to time ( attention, if you play with controller with Bluetooth, you will reconfigure it to windows every time you will do a DeviceCleanUp ), a very practical software that cleans your devices that have not been connected for some time, it improves the overall fluidity and your perception of ghosting if you plug it in lots of different screens unused and other peripheral that stay on your PC.
Also try to see your overdrive settings on your screen, sometimes screens reset their settings.
But yes, update your Nvidia driver and reconfigure your settings in the Nvidia panel, it can be solved your issue.
Anyway i recommend to take another screen, i've had this one in the past and it was one of the worse that i've had ( hard grainy coating / a lot of overshoot and very small details )

I meant that this monitor has very bad overshoot.
I do use device cleanup from time to time to have everything running as good as possible.
Honestly I want to change it and buy a zowie 240/360hz but they are kinda expensive and can't afford them right now.
Either the XL2566K or the XL2546K.
But mostly leaning towards a 360hz so I get a fair upgrade.
Which monitor would you recommend for competitive FPS gaming ?

All monitor in my signature which have a "

" are good.
But it mostly depend of what game you play, what level ?, what is your priority : smoothness or better motion clarity.
Anyway you're right, the AW2818HF are really bad, and it's a Alienware/Dell monitor, i hate their coating, too grainy.
But for me, 1080p it's only when there is a good argument like DyAc 360hz for example, otherwise it's 1440p or 4K for me.

just last night I switched back to my first gen 240hz Asus 1080p, the AW is just awful literally unreal that it's a sponsor for esports lmao.

Mainly playing Valorant/csgo. Smoothens/clarity I don't have any preference other than 1080p tbh.
So I guess a zowie 360hz with dyac but it's kinda expensive.

Mmmh, honestly i don't know, Cs:Go and Valorant don't need 1440p at all imho because there aren't a lot of backgrounds ( like some grass/foliage etc ) so there's no need to be demanding on it.
I find it sad to pay 700 euro just to play two games but you do what you want, the XL2566K is really excellent but beware it has a terrible coil whine in view of its physical design.
I ask you if you prefer smoothness or clarity of movement because you can't have both perfectly, at least it will depend on the price.
On Zowie, the DyAc ( like all strobing stuff ) slightly adds input lag but requires playing without G-Sync/V-Sync so you won't get a totally smooth image, there will be some micro-stutters but that only depends on if you are sensitive to it, to correct this you can add Sync via Riva Tuner but the input lag is logically higher, that's why generally you have the best smoothness (very low input lag, smoother but clarity slightly worse in movement) or motion clarity (everything is less blurry, clearer, but doesn't have the best feeling of input lag)
Once again everything depends on the expectations you have, professional level? or just grind in ranked? high level ?
In any case with Zowie you can't go wrong with that and you already know what to expect with TN.
i have an advice, try if possible to avoid 360hz IPS in 1080p, especially the current panels, they are bad and overrated.
