I have been looking into upgrading to an OLED monitor but the lack of Black Frame Insertion on monitors has been kind of a deal breaker. In my research I came across a post on this forum talking about Software Black Frame Insertion and I looked into RetroArch BFI. My main issue is that these solutions seem to reduce your FPS to 60, regardless of how much FPS you have beforehand. I would be willing to reduce a 360hz OLED to 270fps (3/4th of the refresh rate) to have a high fps while still having some motion clarity improvements, or even as low down to 180fps.

So I guess my main question is if this is even possible or if there is something I am not understanding about this technology?

I believe Asus has some OLED monitors with ELMB (BFI in this case, since they're OLED.) Like the XG27AQDMG and the PG32UCDM.

Note that BFI will halve the effective refresh rate. 240Hz becomes 120Hz. Still way better than 60Hz.
