CS2 Optimal Settings - Faceit

After countless tests, cross-checking and long, intense and mature reflection, I finally understood (in all humility) how to configure the computer as a whole in order to have the smoothest gameplay, particularly on Faceit.
It is absolutely necessary that your fps be consistent and stable and that your maximum stables fps rate matches with your refresh rate. THIS IS THE SECRET!!!!!!!!!!

it is absolutely necessary that your fps be stable and consistent. To do this you need to find the lowest average of your fps, what could be better than a benchmark test on the Workshop map. For my part I have an average of 420 fps but the P1 tells me 200 (I am in native resolution 1920x1080 with everything on low, Nvidia reflex: off with only boost player contrast enable).

You take this base of P1 (200 in my case) and you add on average between 50 and 100 fps to have your fps_max rate as precise as possible and you adjust the refresh rate of your screen accordingly (very very important) .
let's take my case P1 at 200 I add 100 that makes 300 so my fps_max is at 300 (I have to adjust it according to the maps on Faceit, on Mirage 300 it doesn't move, on Ancient I block them at 250) but knowing that the 'anti-cheat is greedy and I absolutely want no INPUT LAG BECAUSE OF FACEIT I am obliged in order to have the crispest possible game, the most responsive without any latency to re-adjust my refresh rate of my screen at 100 Hz instead of 144 Hz otherwise the game is unplayable.

I touch on a sensitive point with this subject because Faceit's anti-cheat is so energy-intensive that it cannot tolerate playing on a refresh rate which is too close to the P1 value of the benchmark test.

For my part, to play on Faceit at 144 Hz without lag I would have needed a P1 value of 300 minimum, so I simply think i need a better PC.

No more latency on Faceit now I'am the Ferrari peak ;)

I've also tried limiting fps to a very low level before, but it didn't work for me (I didn't play faceit). Or do I have to lower the hz too?
Can you post the gameplay after limiting fps?

@Kipperii

It all depends on your P1 value on the benchmark test of the map on the workshop.
Tell me your config, resolution and p1 and I'll tell you.

I'm coming out of a Faceit pug it was played on de_ancient so to make the game as smooth as possible without delay I capped my fps at 220.

a PC optimized in native resolution 1920x1080 @ 100 Hz @ fps_max 220 @ 1.80 400 DPI 1000 Hz I haven't felt a smoother game on Faceit since Methuselah, the days of CS:GO

Also I have a last personal setting I use ExitLag because my ISP provides bad routing from France for the German servers with 500 GB optical fiber I have 35 ping while with ExitLag I have 20.. . it helps !

According to this analysis and the behavior of faceit anti-cheat you would need to have a minimum of 500 stable FPS to be able to fully enjoy 240 Hz on this platform without input lag...

Who can boast of having 500 constant FPS on Faceit? Hmmm I imagine not much compared to the masses

I have a computer that is a year old at 1500 € impossible to be stable at 400 FPS on Faceit regardless of the resolution

Play on a 240 Hz screen more particularly CS 2 with a P1 between 250 and 300 and an average fps of 600 on the benchmark test so that ultimately your highest stable FPS on a Faceit server are at 400 there will be latency , I see it a bit like a bufferbloat style on the screen.

Dear Mr @ Chief Blur Buster I would be curious to have your opinion/analysis from a technical point of view on a "bufferbloat" effect

I share the video of a guy who touches his marble a little in computers, very pragmatic and the latter is part of the cross-checks that I was able to make.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Zqom0I_1Q4

His analysis is so accurate for the ingame feeling on the fact of doing tests in order to find his most stable fps and then capping them to have a coherent MS (And yes we are not Rotschild we cannot for the moment have PCs at 10k so we adjust :D)

Unfortunately it is in French you will need the Youtube translator

Can I get the same result by using rtss to get 1% low fps?

Because the main game I play is not CS

@kipperii If the game is demanding and your fps are closer to a lower refresh rate maybe yes, but my post still applies to CS 2 due to its complexity between coding, network, subtick system, Faceit anti-cheat, hardware latency network latency etc...

What game do you play?
