Hello.
For good money I can buy this Samsung Odyssey G6 OLED 27" 306Hz monitor. For about less than 2/3 the price. I would be switching from the 2015 ASUS PG279Q 165Hz oveclocked IPS.
And there are a few things that put me off buying. But one specific thing is that on RTINGS they state a Total Response Time of 0.2 ms. While most others have the legendary 0.03ms.
Could this be something that should discourage me from buying at a good price and instead continue to save for a "better experience"?

It does not matter in the least. None of the OLEDs have any kind of visible ghosting or overshoot. For all intents and purposes, they all might as well have 0ms pixel response.

The only problem with the Samsung OLED monitors compared to other brands is the firmware. I saw a Samsung monitor on youtube and it behaves more like a TV. It asks you to create a Samsung account when you first turn it on and you have to log in. I don't know if the G6 is also like that though:

This is just personal preference though. This is deal breaker for me, but you might be OK with this.

But as you say, and as I was still browsing reviews and discussions today, I probably won't know without measuring..
And yes, I have noticed problems with the menu/UI. But this is my first OLED and at almost half the price of Gigabite's AORUS 27" 360Hz, which I had my eye on. So, given the price, I'll try my luck and how I'll be able to control it. And hopefully they'll fix the software.

Just picked this up today and its somehow looks worse than my XG27AQMR. Ill try to calibrate it but will most likley return it. Outside of motion clairty it looks awful (contrast is messed up, colors are bland, not as bright). Does not look even remotely like any of my other OLED devices (LG C2, Samsung S24, Book4Pro)

Almost jumped on this monitor until I realized it had a silver encasement and stand. No offense, just adding my 2 cents

Unfortunately I did not try 360Hz @ 1080p. I don't have usecase for it right now.
Otherwise, I don't mind the design, the color. Although I was shocked at how heavy the metal base is. And I actually don't like how unnecessarily thin the display is. The gold LCD from Asus, which compared to this one, was built like a tank.

Which I guess really bothers me. But I don't notice it in the game, it's a pixel shift - whole display. Which is probably quite common thanks to the summer weather. Maybe every few minutes..

Yeah. It's true that I was once again disappointed that there was no wow effect at all initially. As for image quality. And the same goes for the difference between 144hz TN and this 360hz OLED. But I probably don't know what else to look at exactly..
But as I played more with "color vibrance" in games, or on the contrary played something with HDR - videos on YouTube, because 1440p is not much for Google Chromecast with TV. And Windows won't play HBO Max for a change, due to content protection.. :-/

Although I have to admit that I noticed the speed of the display, actually. Between 165hz IPS and this. Because in PUBG, paradoxically, I can now play without antialiasing enabled. Because before, the image was not only jagged/pixelated, but even more blurry and unclear when moving. Now it's also pixelated/shabby, but it's still sharp when moving (pixelated just the same, but without the blur effect). So it doesn't force me to buy a more expensive and powerful graphics card.

As I was able to reduce the graphics requirements.

Even if not, the GPU can scale 1080p to native. On the nvidia side, anything Turing and newer has good GPU scaling.

I own this monitor, I use it to play Quake, and its very good.
I bought mainly for the price, its 599€ on Amazon.fr right now, cheaper than any other OLED monitor.

- The on-screen display (OSD) software isn't greatwhen compared to others. it doesn't bother me, but this might be THE dealbreaker.
- and the silver bezel also.
- mine is the 27 g6 2k , it doesn't behave like a tv, it hasn't 'smart features', and it doesn't include a remote. Its a normal monitor. Im based in Europe.
- I also saw the rtings review, about the response time. Response time isn't an issue on any OLED, even though this screen might have higher, it still doesn't matter, as its miles better than any other technology.

Overall, if you aren't picky, this is a good choice for the time being, imo. in the end of the day, its a fast OLED screen.
