Hello,
I have a Legion 5-15ACH6H. I have hybrid mode enabled, and my screen set to 60 Hz. The AMD software tells me that the FreeSync range of my monitor is 60 to 60. Is there any point in using FreeSync when the screen is set to 60 Hz? It seems that FreeSync only works when the screen is set to 120 and the FPS is between 60 and 120, but I'm not sure how it works exactly, so I came here to get a better explanation on how to use it properly for my laptop.
When using FreeSync, should I limit FPS to a little below the screen refresh rate, enable VSync, or both?
Hope that someone can give me some advice. Thanks in advance!
FreeSync question
Re: FreeSync question
When using freesync, use the highest refresh rate supported by the display. 120Hz is a bit too low if the freesync range starts at 60Hz (due to LFC,) but it's better than nothing.
60Hz is useless for freesync. For good results, the upper limit should be more than twice that of the lower limit. In your case, it's not. It's 2x, which means you are not getting reliable LFC (low framerate compensation.) But it should mostly be OK if you can keep your FPS away from 60. Like at least 70FPS. If you see stutter at 60FPS, then the problem is probably the narrow freesync range.
