Theoretically, if I disable vsync in NVCP will it mess up with framepacing even if I am below max Hz?

Normally, I have no issues enabling G-Sync and V-Sync in the NVCP while turning off V-Sync in the game, especially for single-player games. The smoothness is on another level.

However, my question is when using Lossless Scaling in conjunction with in-game Reflex.

As you guys know, having V-Sync enabled in NVCP causes Reflex to cap your FPS. This usually isn’t a problem, but with Lossless Scaling, I prefer not to exceed my monitor’s maximum refresh rate so G-Sync continues to work effectively. Additionally, there are times when I want to set a lower FPS cap than what Reflex determines—for example, if Reflex caps me at 90 FPS but my FPS fluctuates between 80-90, I’d rather manually cap it at something like 60 FPS before enabling LSFG in Lossless Scaling.

The issue is that this results in two FPS caps: the one from in-game Reflex and my own manual cap. To address this, I’ve considered disabling V-Sync in NVCP. By doing so, I can enable in-game Reflex and still benefit from reduced latency without Reflex capping my FPS. This way, I can set my own FPS cap manually, leaving only one active cap instead of two.

I’m wondering if there are any downsides to this approach. If I keep G-Sync enabled in NVCP and manually cap my FPS while disabling V-Sync in NVCP, will it increase latency or make the game less smooth, even when I’m staying below my monitor’s maximum refresh rate?

With LSFG, it does not matter whether the game is vsynced or not. LS will be presenting the frames you're seeing, not the game. In fact, g-sync isn't even needed for the game, only for LS itself.

You can run the game in windowed mode, no vsync, no g-sync, and it doesn't matter. Actually I prefer running games with vsync OFF, g-sync OFF with only an FPS cap on them when using LSFG.
