Accidentally fixed my stuttering and input lag problem

So i don't know how to explain this but i suffered many years by this weird stuttering and input delay problem. Mouse felt like i am playing with vsync on and i had huge amount of stuttering (especially in unreal engine titles).
Basically how i fixed it:
1) I turned off afterburner power monitoring(i found a video about how to do it in here: https://youtu.be/bQH3DYNboM0?list=LL&t=611).

2) Next thing i did - disable FSO with this reg file:

Code: Select all

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore]
"GameDVR_DXGIHonorFSEWindowsCompatible"=dword:00000001
"GameDVR_FSEBehavior"=dword:00000002
"GameDVR_FSEBehaviorMode"=dword:00000002
"GameDVR_HonorUserFSEBehaviorMode"=dword:00000001
3) Than i disabled MPO with this reg file:

Code: Select all

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwm]
"OverlayTestMode"=dword:00000005
4) I also enabled HAGS + disabled setting called "optimizations for windowed games"

I don't know what exactly fixed my issue but after many years of trying every single fix i found here and reddit i am currently feel happy.
Games now feel completely smooth and sharp and no more floaty mouse feeling. I want to cry
Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 5600x
GPU: RTX 3080
RAM: 32gb ddr4 3600mhz
MOBO: B450m PRO4-F (Asrock)
Windows 11 24h2
GSYNC on or off, no matter what - i don't feel anymore stuttering and mouse problems

i'd highly suggest re-enabling FSO, MPOs, and windows 11's optimizations for windowed games.

For AMD processors, turning off the resizable bar generally gives better performance. The resizable bar causes stutters

FSO + MPO + HAGS + Windowed Games Optimizations should be on.

Unfortunately, what you did other than Msi afterburner is wrong.

Well i test many games with resizable bar on and off. And i have better results with resizable bar on.
FSO+MPO - it was ON before. And before i had huge amount of stuttering. When i turned them OFF - no more stuttering even in Squad game. I play only in fullscreen mode btw. Even if it's a dx12 title. It's a freaking miracle. I do not want to touch fso and mpo settings again :D even just for the tests. I hope this sh*t doesn't comes back

sounds like placebo (or something else you did improved your situation, but not disabling FSO/MPOs...)

d3d12 doesn't even have fullscreen exclusive.

also, not all d3d10/d3d11 games have a fullscreen exclusive mode even with their fullscreen option. windows 11's optimizations for windowed games could help with those by promoting them to flip model...

one of the main things you should really be checking for performance and latency is the game's presentation model. ideally it should say "hardware: independent flip" or "hardware composed: independent flip" if you check with intel's presentmon (can also check with special k or with an rtss presentmon overlay).

the independent flip presentations bypass dwm composition for presentation in windowed/borderless and are basically as good or better than fullscreen exclusive (and, then again, there are also games that don't have fullscreen exclusive at all).

it's 100% percent not a placebo. Just try it.
i don't know how to explain. my games now feel like in 2010 cod4 promod if you know what i mean. super crisp and super sharp. Before my mouse was delayed and now it feels like my mind is delayed. Mouse feels like it doing my will before i can react in my mind. Weird feeling.

hmm i'm not sure what you're trying to tell me with that

i guess you're trying to showing me something about counter strike 2.

i don't see counter strike 2's presentation model listed there though. something's wrong on your end... =/

edit: oh i just saw your sentence below the screenshot... i didn't see that before...

but yeah, something isn't right there. are you running the game as admin ? you could try running the console presentmon as admin too i guess. the line that has cs2.exe should list a presentmon model too... such as "hardware: legacy flip" or "hardware: independent flip" or "composed: flip" etc
