Help me choose a monitor

Hey guys, I'm looking to get a new monitor from my current one (HP x27 FHD 165hz 27") and I can't decide between these two:

LG UltraGear Gaming Monitor 24GS60F:
- 24"
- 1080p
- IPS
- NVIDIA G-Sync compatible & AMD FreeSync
- 180hz
- Price: 136 euros

or

BenQ MOBIUZ EX240N:
- 24"
- 1080p
- VA
- AMD FreeSync Premium
- 165hz
- Price: 123 euros

I'm open to more recommendations around this price

Looking for something that would have better blacks for example when watching a movie and there's a dark scene I see a lot of artifacts?? I don't know how to explain it.
Also would look for better response time because I play a lot of competitive games

It depends what you mean by artifacts but I am going to guess what you're describing is IPS Glow or Backlight Bleed. You will never get perfect blacks/contrast because of the way that LCD and IPS is designed. This also varies since each monitor (even if it's the exact same model) can be slightly different.

If you want perfect blacks, then you will want an OLED panel since OLEDs emit their own light for each individual pixel.

However, the downside to this is that they're much more expensive and don't have as good text clarity unless you use 4K newer panels. But with that being said, some people are ok with the 1440p 27" panels, so it really seems to be a 'depends on the person' situation as to whether you see the colour fringing as an issue. Burn-in is also a factor that is often talked about for OLEDs but this is not really an issue in general unless you really go out of your way to cause it.

OLEDs also have the fastest response times, and are much faster than LCD and IPS, so they're also perfect for gaming too.

Sadly there are no 24" OLED monitors on the horizon as far as I'm aware, so you'd have to make the jump to a 27" monitor. Some monitors do have a 24.5" mode that you can switch to if 27" isn't comfortable. But you can do this via your graphics card control panel even if there is no OSD option for this.

In short, it might be better to wait and save up for an OLED monitor instead of buying an LCD or IPS.

Thank you for your help but I prefer to get a IPS or VA monitor, OLED are too expensive for me to even consider.

I've been looking around and I also found this monitor ASUS TUF Gaming VG259Q3A but can't seem to find reviews on it.
I've also taken a look at 1440p monitors like PHILIPS Evnia 27M2N3500NL, MSI MAG 275CQRF-QD 27 , BenQ MOBIUZ EX2710Q, PHILIPS Evnia 27M2N5500-27 but also can't seem to find many reviews on them

Skip both and buy one of these:
AW2523HF (or equivalent similarly priced 1080p 360hz, such as the Asus & AOC models)
27G1S (not the plus version)
Q24G2A (if u want to chase PPI more than refresh rate)
Odyssey G4 (if you must cheap out as much as possible)
Nothing else is relevant.

Buying 144hz is only understandable if it's a 4k display.
1080p144hz is a bad purchasing decision from a longevity perspective and a display ergonomics / eye health perspective.
60hz should be avoided at all cost, even if it's a dense display (>264ppi)

Too high persistence and too low PPI for normal use.
24" 2560x1440 240hz LCD is the minimum bearable experience imo.

Above all, choose for yourself and NEVER rely solely on the advice of people here, try for yourself and do not conform to popular opinions, whatever anyone says.
VA is recommended to you if you want good blacks but you will have a notable difference in your vision in FPS games which will be less good than IPS, nothing more.

I ended up buying this one : Asus TUF Gaming VG259Q3A. I'm currently still testing it since I bought it from Amazon I still have a few days to return it. Can't find any ICC profiles for it tho. I'm sill open to suggestions tho
