"main display" on secondary avoiding stutters

maybe you guys can help me out. i normally have a 3080 sending signal to my primary UW and my 1440 secondary. since buying the 9800x3d ive been noticing very bad 1% lows testing on a easy to run game. i know about the afterburner stuff and the power monitoring. the only way i have been able to smooth out my .1% lows is if i either bring nvidia app into focus or i change my main display to the 1440 then power it by igpu. i have matched refresh rates and get the same result. normally i would just deal with using igpu as a main except i cant launch my favorite game mxbikes in ultrawide. i have been obsessing over this. pretty hard to explain all that is happening.
