Monitor at 144hz but sometimes doesnt feel like it

Hey guys I would like to ask what could be my problem my monitor sometimes doesnt feel 144 like it doesnt lag but less smooth on the eye, the feeling of the mouse is also different.

But for some reason most of the time not always if I watch my friend live streaming screenshare on discord or a youtube video in hd 60 fps or something live my monitor and my games feels smoother and look smoother. Even if i turn the streams off it stays good for a couple hours before going bad again.

Weird thing is that i used to have this bug on my old PC and i thought something was just wrong with it and i changed it for a brand new PC but now that its still doing it im wondering if the cables or monitor is going bad ? and let say its going bad why does watching something live fix it ? its almost like my PC is saying oh this livestream is at 60fps but the main game is at 144 we must go in 144. but when there is nothing playing in the background my monitor is like " idk what to do lol "

Other theories : my CPU have a igpu ( amd 7800x3d ) i selected my gpu and high performance for me games but maybe its still switching between the 2 ? and when my igpu is busy running a video in the background my game and pc is being displayed by my 4080 instead ? so i could try turning that off in the bios but i dont know if thats a good idea so id rather ask first.

thank you.

can You post the monitor spec?

maybe the monitors' VRR is engaging and it lowers the refresh rate...

Hey I asked an AI to help me solve this mystery and I feel im getting close to understand what is going on.

I asked to formulate a text with everything we spoke about to describe my issue because its kinda hard to explain :

"My monitor's refresh rate feels like it's slowly drifting out of sync over time. After triggering certain actions like watching a Discord screenshare or playing a video, it temporarily restores the smoothness of 144Hz, but over time, it gradually feels less and less synchronized, almost like it's degrading until it becomes noticeably worse. It feels like my VRR/G-Sync stops working properly unless I manually 'reset' it with something animated on-screen. Has anyone experienced something similar or know what could cause this?"

like let say I have something animated in 144 hz ( fps ) in the background. Then my whole monitor will display everything in 144hz and it looks super smooth for the eyes. The mouse feels good too.

if i dont have something that is playing its like my monitor is not working properly even if it says im in 144hz everywhere ( in my games too ) it wont feel that way exactly. First time I noticed it is when my friend showed me something in a discord screenshare and when I went back into the game it felt super smooth and good.

Now let say I watch a discord screenshare and fix my issue and close the screenshare my PC will still feel good for a while could be minutes/hours or almost the whole day but slowly it will start to be less good until its completely out of sync and feel not like 144 hz at all.

The AI suggested to me that I use wallpaper engine app to have an animated wallpaper at all time playing in the background , thats working so far but it does increase the heat and cpu/gpu usage while gaming.

Also the AI made me turn off a setting in my monitor called overdrive and i think it improved things a little bit. it mentioned other settings but i didnt have them.

Maybe I should turn windows 11 VRR off , G-Sync off and ( idk if i can because i didnt see any option for it but turning off monitor VRR ) maybe my monitor is just broken or shit at this point so it bug with that idk what to think anymore.

edit : another theory is that if i understand correctly VRR will make it so my monitor is always have the same HZ than the app/game im running what if there is an app that bug and causing everything to run at the frequency but since my monitor is also trying to do what its supposed to do and run my games at 144 fpz it does a random weird frequency ?
