How to configure g-sync/monitor when not support it fully?

I have the Asus Swift monitor with 2 nvidia 970 in SLI.
For example, if a game does not support g-sync/SLI, how do I set up the monitor/game for best picture?
I am running the desktop at 144hz, and if I try a game like Rage, its unplayable, the stuttering when strafing makes it unplayable.
So how should I typical set this up? Max 120hz and ULMB?

I am new to both g-sync and SLI, so please enlighten me on how to best set this thing up :?

You're saying RAGE doesn't work properly with Gsync?

I know it's ever so slightly more stuttery with gsync when a max refresh rate is set above 60hz (same with alan wake). But if you set 60hz as a max refresh it should work exactly the same as vsync. 60hz vsync on RAGE is the least stuttery game ever (disable texture 'detail')

You should disable sli with RAGE anyway, I think, I don't think it works.

You should not use ULMB on 120hz wiht 60fps either, because you'll get tracing/ghosting. You'd need 60hz strobed for that.
