CS2 Audio Devices & correlation to Desync/Hitreg

Hi there!
Has anyone felt like their bullets/sprays in CS2 aren't hitting as well when you leave both your speaker and mic devices as "Default Device"?
How do some pros like ZywOo, sh1ro & donk not touch their audio settings in CS2 but manage to still play so flawlessly and hit almost all their shots?
I've seen a Reddit thread that shared a correlation between desync and the selection of audio devices - I've personally felt the game run better (shots hitting, don't feel a nanosecond behind my opponents) when I set my audio devices up properly in the audio settings.
Could it be a difference in hardware or just messed up sound drivers on my part?
Would appreciate any input or similar experiences.
