Valorant hit reg and desync fixed finally [at least for me]
Hello friends I normally am not a member of this forum but I want to share this post with you. For a long time I tried to find solutions on this site for the problems I was experiencing. Each time I found small temporary fixes but I could not find a permanent solution. However I have finally solved the hit registration and desynchronization issue in Valorant. It was a very difficult process and I quit the game many times and even started to hate it.
First I will talk about my system. I play on a laptop with a Ryzen 9 9955hx3D CPU with 128 mb L3 cache, a 300 hz 5 ms 2560 x 1600 screen, a 5070 ti 130 w GPU and a Razer Viper V3 Pro mouse. I get around 700 to 800 fps in Valorant. The game was extremely smooth with no stuttering at all but the hit registration was unbelievably bad.
The general desynchronization symptoms I had
Dying instantly taking instant headshots
Incredibly bad hit registration not being able to kill even the easiest targets
Enemies being extremely fast while I felt slow a serious sign of desynchronization
Mouse feeling heavy and sensitivity feeling wrong
Sometimes the game not registering key presses even though the keyboard is fine especially the A and D keys occasionally not being detected
Solving the problem was very difficult and took months of frustration.
First I focused on changing the resolution. I played at 1280 x 1024 instead of 2 k and it felt like the problem was solved but then it came back and the hit registration was still bad. I played at 1280 x 960 and again it seemed to improve but did not. I lowered all graphics settings and again it felt like it helped but it did not. I tested every possible resolution one by one for frame time stability but nothing changed and the desynchronization kept coming back.
My bullets were traveling extremely fast and going through enemies so I changed mouse polling rate settings. I tested 500, 1000, 2000, 4000 and 8000 hz but it made no difference. I tried dpi values 400, 800, 1600 and 3200 but again no effect. It had nothing to do with this.
I spent a lot of time on Windows settings. I disabled HPET, disabled MPO, disabled HAGS, disabled Game Mode and applied many registry tweaks, so many that I cannot even remember them. Because of this I reset the laptop several times.
I obsessed over Nvidia settings. I tried LLM off on and ultra. I tried Reflex off on and on plus boost. I tested normal and high performance power settings. I tested quality and other options one by one. Sometimes it felt like it worked but the problem always continued.
In game I tested fps cap, I tested vsync, maximum resolution and settings, minimum settings but nothing fixed it. Also when I capped fps the mouse became heavy and uncontrollable, the sensitivity felt slower. Because of this I constantly changed sensitivity, dpi and tried Windows sensitivity 4/11 and 6/11, but nothing solved it. Sometimes I tried very low sensitivity like 0.07 at 1600 dpi and it felt like it helped but it did not. The issue was not related to any of this.
I thought the problem was my network. I bought Noping and Exitlag and they felt like they helped but again it was placebo. I tested every network adapter setting and disabled all power saving options but nothing changed. In the game there was zero packet loss and the total remained zero until the end of the match. I also constantly watched the network jitter graph and total frame time graph.
My in game frame time was 1.5 to 2 ms and CPU plus GPU latency was 2 to 3 ms. With such a powerful system everything looked perfect but the hit registration was unbelievably bad. Not being able to kill even the easiest enemies destroyed the fun of the game but since I am a perfectionist I was determined to fix it.
I even installed Filter Key Setter because I thought the keyboard was slow but do not install it, I do not recommend it, it is a bad program and changed nothing. I installed MSI Utility and set the GPU to high priority and played with some settings but again it did not solve the problem. It felt like it helped sometimes and I said finally I found the solution but it always went back to the same thing. I had fallen into a placebo trap and an obsession with tweaking settings.
I thought maybe I am just bad at the game that maybe the problem is me not the system that maybe my aim or game sense is bad but it was not that. Sometimes when the bullets actually registered I was kill 30-35 and match MVP. I always kept the movement error graph open to check if there was movement error and tried many ways to improve myself.
Also desynchronization and hit registration were much worse in ranked matches while in DM and TDM they were better. If there was desynchronization and hit registration problems in ranked I would finish like five to seventeen because it was impossible to kill anyone. After struggling with all of this I finally found the solution.
Solution
I hope this solution fixes the problem for you. It fixed it for me and it is not placebo. Now when I miss an enemy it is because of spray pattern, bad decision or luck. Hit registration is razor sharp and the mouse feels extremely light.
The solution is possible with MSI Utility V3.
You will set the SSD and the ethernet to undefined instead of high and restart.
The game will feel completely different, bullets will go razor sharp and the mouse will feel extremely light.
Also while the laptop used to get extremely hot it now barely heats up even when playing uncapped at 800 fps. There was a serious drop in temperature.
The issue was that having these on high priority in MSI caused millisecond level CPU spikes which caused desynchronization. Try it and share the results with me. Do not waste months like I did obsessing over every little setting. Enjoy the game.

Re: Valorant hit reg and desync fixed finally [at least for me]
If your SSD has a lot of IRQ's you can lower then and you will feel that the game runs better too, my samsung SSD had like 120 IRQ's, you can basically set it to 10-20 and there's no difference at all.

I tried the methods suggested by the author, but they didn’t work for me. I realized this wouldn’t be effective as soon as I moved the mouse on the desktop. If the issue had really been fixed, the mouse cursor movement on the desktop should have felt noticeably smoother, almost as if it were lubricated, but that wasn’t the case.

Didn't work for me neither. Had only the SSD set to high priority.

Dude i made this account just to reply to say thx
I play cs2 but this fix seems to have an affect at least for me
I was on the same boat as you having tried everything and just constantly having to deal with this handicap during playing but i tried putting my ssd at undefined (my network adapter was already on undefined) and i don't know if i'm just high on copium and placebo but the game feels better. I feel it especially in pistols, i can actually hit people now and even offline vs bots (aim_rush map) it feels a million times better. Spraying also feels better.

Bro, we really need your MSI Utility V3 screenshot. We need to check if you're in MSI mode. Thanks a lot for sharing!!!
currently mainly researching desync.
