Has anyone tried this and see a difference?
The new driver removes the NVMe SCSI translation layer used by the old driver. Effectively reducing I/O overhead on the CPU.
I feel like there is a difference, but I don't know. My bootup is a lot faster at 16 seconds. Used to be 22 seconds. I use dark mode and I used to get a flash bang when opening up an explorer window. But now it opens up significantly faster that I don't get the flash bang anymore.
I have 2 NVME Drives. Corsair 8tb MP400 Pcie 3.0, has my games and game apps. Samsung 980 Pro 1TB pcie 4.0, my OS drive.
I think it's improved overall system latency as well, not huge but it's noticeable, at least i think it is.

hello you need to create the key if they doesnt exist (just for nvme hard drive)
The regedit is provided as is use it a your own risk
Save this as a reg file execute it as administrator and reboot
Code: Select all
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Policies\Microsoft\FeatureManagement\Overrides]
"735209102"=dword:00000001
"1853569164"=dword:00000001
"156965516"=dword:00000001

after reboot it will show as storage device

i already have it in storage devices. Windows 11 pro 24h2. But driver date is 2006. What's your driver date?

Microsoft default system generic driver will always have the same date because of the signature date of the certificate that start at this date.
You can benchmark before and after with CrystalDiskMark or ATTO Disk Benchmark and monitor the cpu usage while you launch the bench

boot time
before 7.8s
after 5.5s
Good find and seems like this worked but i can't feel any differences tbh.

Does this work with Windows 10? I'm running the Samsung 990 Pro 1TB with Samsung's NVME driver, I don't see it in storage disks after applying the .reg.
