Does XMP need to be on? [Laptop]

I have an HP Omen Max 16, Intel Ultra 9 275HX, RTX 5080, 32Gb Micron ram.
The system should support XMP but I don't see that it's on, but the ram is going the 5600mt's The ram timings are attached, (like 45/45/45). For a MSRP of around $3k this ram seemed to be slower than some aftermarket ram.
I could get some after market ram that was a little faster but the HP Bios doesn't seem to even let me activate the XMP profile in the secret advanced menu I had to look up. I read the MSI systems support full over clocking but HP is usually locked up and wants you to use their "HP Omen Gaming Hub" with all the boosting featuers - but I didn't see XMP anywhere. The software does activate a radical overclock but I usually play in balanced mode at 99% cpu power to keep the system cool. Frame rates are adequate for me but I do not see that the XMP ram profile is active, however, the ram is running at max speed.
I got the system for 50% off looking for a mobile solution, performance is great. Just didn't know about the XMP setting or if it was really beneficial for the games. I'm still seeming to experience latency and desync quite horribly. I have good games and bad games but the desync is still awful.
The reason I was asking was that some games, I.E., CoD/Warzone, BF6/REDSEC, may benefit from the ram profiles being active, or faster ram as well. CoD had a known issue with the ram causing issues over the years. As for personal experience I had played on multiple systems and could tell a difference between systems with the latency, or it may just be a fluke.
I wasn't sure myself.
Thx
