BEST WISHES EVERYBODY AND CS LAGG 7 YEARS
Posted: 31 Dec 2025, 10:04
Hello everyone, my name is Jeffrey. I'm 35 years old and have been gaming for quite a few years. I always thought I'd stop before I turned 30, but apparently that never happened. I'm creating this thread because I'd like to connect with people who have the same problem.
The problem I've been experiencing for the past 7 years is input lag/tearing.
I'm using a Dutch-to-English translator for this. I hope it all goes well.
I've been playing Counter-Strike since 1.3... I quit Source due to time constraints and a bad computer, and started again with the Pro Mod... CS Go. CS 2.
The problem started halfway through CS Source... input lag that won't go away.
The problem is... it feels like the game is lagging behind. Moving feels like I'm walking through mud and the rest of the players aren't. I noticed it immediately, I completely reinstalled Windows, I started CS2 for the first time... the game felt great... I moved my mouse from left to right... at 500Hz, 1000Hz, 2000Hz, and 4000Hz, all absolutely fantastic... the shooting and movement felt great, I closed CS, restarted my computer, and the input lag that came with it never went away.
I mainly had this problem with CS2, but I also felt it as soon as I started Valorant (the problem feels less severe there, but it's there). I'm a CS player, so maybe I just don't know how movement in Valorant should feel?

I've literally tried everything.
* a different Steam account
* I've tried quite a few new PC systems and monitors over the past 7 years
* I've tried Linux, Windows 10, Windows 11 (of course, there are differences here and there, but the problem persists)
* different internet providers
and so on
* What's particularly striking is that when I reinstall Windows... or when I install a different GPU, everything works fine the first time, but then the lag persists.
I live in Haarlem, the Netherlands. Fiber optic internet was installed here last year, so the internet is excellent. My problem also occurs offline.
Last year, I renovated the entire ground floor (new 3-phase power connection). It's on the same power grid, of course.
* I have some kind of filter between my computer and the power outlet (it feels better, but it hasn't gone away).
* This problem also occurs offline, especially when I start a GAME with bots (it feels better without bots).
* FPS + 500 Hz + 400 Hz, mouse 1000/2000 Hz, everything is fine. I've been messing around with computers since I was 12.
* Of course, I've tried everything... and a lot of things seemed to help, but that was only a temporary fix... How is that even possible? A temporary solution; everything from the PC world makes this problem so illogical...
* I suspect many more people are experiencing this problem, but they simply never experienced the game properly, so they don't notice it.
The topics linked to this on Blurbusters are, of course:
Broken scaling caused by heavy/floating mouse, desync, heavy car bug, input lag, etc.
