Weird floaty mouse feeling

Post by coke1enjoyer » 15 Feb 2026, 01:56

My setup: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX WiFi motherboard, G.Skill Ripjaws 32GB (CL32) DDR5 RAM, Gigabyte RTX 5070 Windforce GPU, Kingston NV3 1TB NVMe SSD, NZXT Kraken 240 AIO cooler

I get solid high FPS in CS2 (this is my main game) with no abnormal frametime spikes in CapFrameX or anything, but in real games I can't aim properly, it's like my mouse feels floaty and unresponsive, crosshair doesn't track tight, movement lacks that snappy precision. Feels off in duels even when I should win. None of my friends experience this.

I've tried fresh Windows OS fully debloated, Nvidia Control Panel Settings, DDU, Tweaked BIOS settings for CPU, RAM, etc.

Any ideas on what to do, I'm open to any suggestions at this point

- Play to closest server within your region & get business line optical fiber.
- Get a 600Hz display & run GSYNC+VSYNC+Reflex
- Use FSE in CS2
- Disable EXPO and/or get ECC SECDED UDIMMs
- Sell your redundant components (e.g.: shit mobo & SSD) to get something better (8-layer PCB motherboard & high IOPS storage device such as SN8100)

All you need to do.

You don't need a high refresh rate monitor, nor VSync or G-Sync; that’s not where the problem is coming from. Also, an 8-layer motherboard isn't going to solve it either.

What mouse are you using. And is it a 8khz mouse? If it's set to 8khz, try lowering it to 1000hz.

You have a very nice setup and it's unfortunate you have issues with that setup.

I have logitech pro x superlight, it only goes up to 1000hz

I did this, just wanted to point it out to try to help you.
I had an issue with my mouse after setting up my computer after 8 years or so, so format and installed win 11 ltsc.

installed the "onboard memory manager" for my gpro superlight 2 - (appplied my personal settings) = 800 dpi and 1000/2000 hz wireless - IM OLD 8-)
USB-dongle thingie connected to another usb port on my motherboard and checking with USB Latency analyser v2 - I dont know if it works or if its BS but i gave it a go.

And then i tried
mouse settings checking if i had the old enhance pointer option ticked--- i mean im just throwing it out there. ;)
In nvcp - Adjust desktop size and position.
-Full Screen
Perform scaling on GPU.

After the Full screen - scaling on gpu set . I personaly found my ingame sens/movement more to my liking. But im no expert.

i tried it and it was good for about a game or two and then it started happening again. sometimes it feels like my game is running at 60hz instead of 400, and then other times it feels like my latency is through the roof. i did a ticktiming print in cs2 to see the difference between when its smooth and when its laggy and the numbers are pretty much identical
