active signal resolution x display resolution mismatch [win11]
above is a screenshot of my preferred, oddball stretched resolution of 2048x1440p.
but the active signal resolution fails to match that of my display resolution
this creates a weird mismatch, and it sucks in many of the games that i play. my aim only feels good in scenarios that mimic an lg / strafeaim duel. every other kind of gunfight feels like a gamble because of my mouse not feeling 1:1
i have tried setting windows scaling to 120% (works, but not perfectly.)
i have tried win8dpiscaling=1 and 0 (also works best at 0, but only a teeny tiny bit. damn near placebo in my case.)
i have all 0s in my smoothmousex and y regs (works, but doesnt fix the issue at hand)
i have my mousespeed set to - (works, but doesnt fix the issue at hand)
my scaling number in regedits are set to 3 (fullscreen, works fantastically but STILL doesnt fix the issue at hand)
i have an RTX 4060
i have tried following the video by TheTweakingGuy, titled: "HOW TO SOLVE FAKE DISPLAY SCALING" (may 29, 2023)
it does indeed create a new resolution, but does not change the active signal resolution.
god save me i want to aim again

How did you create this mode? With CRU?

change something in nvcpl, like display scaling to gpu scaling, and back.
or change one of 3 scaling option, and set back.

Re: active signal resolution x display resolution mismatch [win11]
nvidia control panel. creating a similar resolution (2096 x 1440) in CRU doesn't change my signal resolution. note that the actual outcome i want is mouse input that is mathematically 1:1, same as 2560x1440.
gpu scaling as of right now is the only scaling mode that even begins to let my mouse movements feel natural. display scaling is unplayable for me. switching between the two doesn't fix. as i type this, i'm going to change the registry edits in the screenshot below to "2" (no scaling), check the active signal mode, and then back to 3.
okay so i just realized i can edit posts before they're approved. anyways,
changing the "Scaling=" to 2, resetting, and checking ASM shows that it is still at 2560x1440. changing it back to 3 afterwards and resetting leads to it STILL being 2560x1440. i doubt these methods will make it match my desktop resolution.

All you need for that is black bars to the left and rightxenvitsuFPS wrote: ↑23 Feb 2026, 16:18nvidia control panel. creating a similar resolution (2096 x 1440) in CRU doesn't change my signal resolution. note that the actual outcome i want is mouse input that is mathematically 1:1, same as 2560x1440.

Re: active signal resolution x display resolution mismatch [win11]
I tried mousespeed set to minus, it just creates acceleration, 0 doesn't. As for your res mismatch maybe something with multiplane overlay being bugged? Does even a standard resolution (other than native) from your monitor produce the same behavior? Did you make sure that in your game of choice you have selected your desktop res? I can't comment much on Win11 since I've never used it myself, but this seems like a right in front of you fix.xenvitsuFPS wrote: ↑22 Feb 2026, 20:38Screenshot 2026-02-22 203110.png

Re: active signal resolution x display resolution mismatch [win11]
i can aim on mousespeed=- and mousespeed=0 equally well so i'm back on 0. my earlier posts contradict that but to be fair, in retrospect, i probably used - because it felt different and helped me cope. my multiplane overlay is enabled, but i disabled it previously. i don't think it's bugged exactly though; i never get flickering or anything like that.crack wrote: ↑24 Feb 2026, 14:44I tried mousespeed set to minus, it just creates acceleration, 0 doesn't. all of the other regular resolutions available to me (1920x1080, 1600x900?, 1280x720) still keep my active signal mode at 2560x1440. i'm honestly not going to be surprised or refusing to expect this to be an issue with my monitor's trash firmware. games use my desktop resolution, yes.

Maybe the monitor requires a driver to function properly? Or try restarting gpu with CTRL+LSHIFT+WIN+B (Edit: Make a custom resolution in AMD Adrenalin, choose CVT-RB timings, set Resolution (Px) and Timing Display to the same numbers, example: Resolution (Px) Horizontal 1920 Vertical 1080 Timing Display Horizontal 1920 Vertical 1080)xenvitsuFPS wrote: ↑01 Mar 2026, 19:52i can aim on mousespeed=- and mousespeed=0 equally well so i'm back on 0. my earlier posts contradict that but to be fair, in retrospect, i probably used - because it felt different and helped me cope. my multiplane overlay is enabled, but i disabled it previously. i don't think it's bugged exactly though; i never get flickering or anything like that.crack wrote: ↑24 Feb 2026, 14:44I tried mousespeed set to minus, it just creates acceleration, 0 doesn't. Are you not using DSR?

no clue what the DSR acronym means.
