Router Input Lag

Separate area for niche lag issues including unexpected causes and/or electromagnetic interference (ECC = retransmits = lag). Interference (EMI, EMF) of all kinds (wired, wireless, external, internal, environment, bad component) can cause error-correction latencies like a bad modem connection. Troubleshooting may require university degree. Your lag issue is likely not EMI. Please read this before entering sub-forum.

Router Input Lag

Post by tyz69 » 09 Apr 2026, 06:34

Hello. I want to tell my strange story.
About a year ago I didn’t feel any problems with the input delay, one might say it was ideal, but around the same time a neighbor moved in with me and installed electricity for himself with 380 kW( i have 220). I would like to add that to the right and left of me there were abandoned houses without electricity.
At that time, I began to notice typical problems: low Hertz, floating mouse, registering hits worse.
But the clearest thing is network lags. This is not packet loss and network jitter, as if the game was paused and my character was flying on a noclip, but after a couple of seconds I was in the same place. Moreover, these lags work for everything: the game, discord, browser, etc.
I thought this was a problem with the router and purchased a BE3600 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 Router. As soon as I installed it and configured it, the best time of my life began. I literally felt no input lag, my strafes were super accurate (even though I play with snap tap, it was even faster). But after a day or a day later, the symptoms of input delay returned. I believe that my router is saturated with dirty electricity.
What could be the problem??
Power unit? (I have a zalman wattbit 600w, old, about 4-5 years old).
Electricity in the house? (I have grounding in the house)
Or is it my neighbor who installed 380 kW for himself?
I want to know your opinion and what can be done. Maybe someone else has encountered this?

Probably the electricity is not clean anymore because of your neighbour, but is not very bad either, its just that your psu cannot handle it anymore.

The router cannot get "infected" by dirty mains over a period of 24 hours, if the electricity would be the problem it would be an immediate effect, not after 2 days.

BTW, your PSU is ultra low garbage tier, costs below 50 bucks, is several years old already and has literally no active PFC according to specs...even a little bit of fluctuations and neutral line noise would cause huge problems with this PSU.

Okay, I'll try to buy a good power supply, and which one can you recommend?
And btw, I'm lying, because I installed the router around midnight, tested it for 2-3 hours, and went to bed (the problems started the next day).
But then why did changing the router have such a big effect?

Because the electrical load was lower after midnight, for me it always work much better after midnight while during the days I have constant problems.

You’re not alone, I noticed same improvement when changed my router and it goes bad after couple hours and I didn’t know why exactly because I had no packet loss or unstable ping .. recently I thought about replacing the wiring of the wall outlet that i use to power my router because the wire was old and not high quality ( it’s connected to same circuit that is connected to my room that has my pc and xbox) I found the wire inside the wall was burnt, as soon as I replaced it with high quality one , played a game i noticed aiming became smoother and keeps getting smoother over time ( same on xbox) and unfortunately I don’t have enough time to keep testing because of work🫠
But every time i use my pc even on desktop i see improvement to mouse movement and also image quality not being blurry as hell like it used to be
