When attempting to remove the matte coating off of the XG2431 I accidentally ripped off the polarizer as well; before calling it quits however did some research and saw you can buy some polarizing film sheets online for only $15-$20 dollars and thought it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot:

So far bought a few different polarizing sheets with varying results that I've taped to safety goggles temporarily for testing purposes, and so far the results are decent enough. When holding the sheets up to the display I'll find that when the sheet is held parallel the picture quality is decent but there is some faint distortion (rainbow shimmering effect) unless I angle the sheets slightly forward and rotated left or right.

Hoping with enough research that I can find a polarizing film sheet that looks accurate enough that I wouldn't mind applying it to the monitor itself, and from there getting a glossy screen protector to go over the new polarizer.

If I make anymore progress I'll continue to update this thread but all the same can't complain either way; anything is better than just throwing out the monitor.
