Fixed my input delay after 1.5 years
Hello. I've always scrolled these forums for fixes and whatnot but after finding a fix for myself I had to make an account and share this because of how good it feels. So for context i've competed in high immortal valorant for 5 years /3k hours in aim training / . I got a new pc 2 ish years ago(i9 14900kf / 5070/ z790p-wifi and I have always felt input delay to the point where I can't enjoy the game. Yesterday I thought I should try moving my peripherals(mouse/keyboard) from the back of my pc (usb 3.2 gen 1) to a normal 2.0 port (on the front) and instantly my mouse was snappy again. It feels like I have been playing with a 1 second delay and explains why I thought I lost my reaction time. My clicks were registered late as well as my keyboard clicks. Movement feels snappier than ever too. I googled if usb 3.2 gen 1 is viable for comp gaming and apparently it can cause interference with mouse dongles(specifically logitech/razor?) There are also certain ports on your pc that may be taking an extra hop because it is going through a chipset or some type of hub. Let me know if this helps anybody cuz for me this has made me so happy.

Once again, I'm reading this nonsense. It's crazy—if it were that simple, there wouldn't be a problem. I guarantee you the problem will come back in three days, maybe even sooner!kovaakz wrote: ↑25 Jun 2026, 09:17Hello. I'm posting my experience. I got a new pc and this is what happened. It is already known that if your usb ports are going through a hub or a chipset it will introduce latency. I simply became aware of this and didnt realize my peripherals were misconfigured/not properly optimized. Things that are imperceivable to certain people doesn't equal being inconceivable to everybody. I play against top players where every little thing matters and where sensitivity to detail is highly important. I can tell when I feel input delay regardless of how small it is.BARGHEST wrote: ↑25 Jun 2026, 13:35Once again, I'm reading this nonsense. You mention that you have a 14900kf / 5070 / Z790p-Wi-Fi (Z790)! On Intel boards, all USB ports go through the chipset—not through a hub and definitely not directly. Only on some AMD motherboards do they connect directly or through a hub. I checked what you wrote here on my Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX; I looked through the entire USB branch, and they all go through the chipset. Well, to put it simply, you can just ask GPT a simple question, and it’ll give a full answer, confirming that all Z790 boards use the chipset—across all brands. Correct me if I’m wrong!kovaakz wrote: ↑25 Jun 2026, 19:17I'm posting my experience. I got a new pc and this is what happened. Re: Fixed my input delay after 1.5 years
I have ports that go through a hub + the chipset requiring 2 hops. I eliminated one hop and now it only through chipset. I am not saying I eliminated both the hops. This is not the only factor as well. USB 3.2 gen 1 causes electrical interference with wireless mouse dongles.

Idk...my CS2 Deathmatch is working as it should but Premier does something to the game and it becomes like you are in the water, enemies are ultra quick no pro is going to react to it, spraying is totally broken, and bullets go missing. How many times I tried to shoot enemies when they are in the air and none of my bullets hit. I am just seeing a different picture I guess and I do not know why, i am like always half second behind.

Could you let me know which motherboard you have, and where you connected the keyboard and mouse for the front panel?kovaakz wrote: ↑25 Jun 2026, 19:17I'm posting my experience. -I 've been experiencing exactly the same for years.buzzik wrote: ↑28 Jun 2026, 00:01Idk...my CS2 Deathmatch is working as it should but Premier does something to the game and it becomes like you are in the water, enemies are ultra quick no pro is going to react to it, spraying is totally broken, and bullets go missing. But when internet congestion is at its peak (perfect ping & no loss though) , even deathmatch becomes a nightmare for the hitreg somtime.
-I noticed something on some faceit games too : perfect hitreg on warmup then unplayable when the match start.
i tried many computers , connections , places , everything linked to emi or electricity.
-I've came to conclusion that it's a mix of match server parameters , & mainly isp (congestion + bad routing).
When i look at datas in cosole at the end of a game (dm or match) , i can notice that the bandwith used was way more important on dm than on a match. (you can have 32 to 64 kb/s on match when on dm you can reach 140kb/s). I ve noticed when the more those values are high the more the game is often enjoyable.
Because there is more people on dm. Maybe our isps don't deal well with the priorization when the usage is really low?
