The desync gets worse or better depending on the BIOS version
This is something I've confirmed and tested for quite a while now. I currently have a Gigabyte AORUS B450 M. I've updated it to the latest BIOS twice, and twice I've gone back to older versions because the gameplay becomes completely absurd.
I know my system already has issues, but simply updating the BIOS makes the problem about 1000 times worse. In Counter-Strike (the only game I've tested), players practically slide around and wide swing while shooting.
The newer the BIOS version, the more changes and configuration options it has, but I honestly don't feel like testing every single setting by enabling and disabling them one by one. There are already plenty of options with names I don't even recognize or know what they do.
The fact that one BIOS version can make things worse or "better" is something worth keeping in mind. I imagine the most dedicated people here have probably tested different motherboard brands. I personally have two: an ASUS and a Gigabyte.
What one motherboard lets you enable or disable, the other doesn't. For example, ASUS doesn't let you disable HPET, while Gigabyte does. Is there any motherboard brand that's generally more flexible with BIOS options? Maybe MSI? I know ASRock has a bad reputation, but I'll look into it

I have a Z590 AORUS MASTER motherboard, and I've also noticed significant differences between different BIOS versions. My motherboard has 10 BIOS versions, but only the F9 version has the minimum input latency; the others don't. It seems that many problems stem from changes in the motherboard BIOS's underlying code, and are unrelated to your specific settings. This issue is extremely difficult to detect.

I can confirm that’s right—I have a GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS ELITE AX DDR4 with BIOS version F12. I’m sticking with this version for now; if I flash to a higher version, performance gets worse, but I haven’t tried a lower one yet. What BIOS version do you have? Also, just so you know, I’m not talking about that nonsense that everyone thinks is ideal. Sometimes flashing the BIOS helps for a few hours or days, and everything works perfectly, but then it gets much worse afterward. I’m ruling that possibility out. This problem involves two issues. A specific BIOS version and sound card driver are required to solve everything, but some motherboards don't have a usable BIOS at all... Nowadays, all computers have two sound cards: one integrated into the motherboard and another integrated into the NVIDIA graphics card. On my computer, I have to install the NVIDIA's built-in audio driver and configure it to output sound through the NVIDIA audio output. I've seen a gamer with perfect 0-latency. I guess he has a perfect motherboard and BIOS combination. I know he's using a 3060 graphics card with the 552.22 driver. I asked him about his computer configuration, but he wouldn't tell me his motherboard model, saying he didn't know how to check it! He's an experienced user; he couldn't possibly not know.
I suspect that might be the root of the problem. He doesn't want the truth to spread because it would affect his interests?

but that happend with z390, z690, z790., am4 x570.
