Slow Alt-Tab fix on high-refresh OLED'S

Hi
I own PG27AQDP (1440p 480hz) + 4060 Ti and looking into solving slow alt-tabbing by upgrading to 50 series GPU. Afaik, NVIDIA doubled single-head Pixel Rate limit and there are reports of 5090/5080/5070 Ti fixing this issue
Does the same apply for 5070 (non Ti) or other younger models?
Would like to hear about first-hand experience of those who run high-refresh DSC OLED's along with 5070/5060 gpus.

Use ToastyX's Custom Resolution Utility, Extension blocks > Edit > Data blocks > delete HDR static metadata, restart PC or use restart64.exe from the Custom Resolution Utility program folder, restart PC if it doesn't work.
Someone else had this problem before and apparently this fixes it.

CRU doesn’t work with Display Stream Compression (DSC), which OP uses to get to 480hz. On my panel, changes made to the EDID through CRU simply get ignored

the 5000 series has DP 2.1 UHBR20 which is enough to run 480Hz at 1440p natively without DSC.
afaik slow alt tab is related to DSC and a rather poor implementation of it by Nvidia.
with DSC enabled on AMD GPU you can ALT-TAB way quicker than on Nvidia for some reason...
Btw i don't think upgrading to the RTX 5000 series from RTX 4000 series in your case is worth it only for quicker alt-tabing... unless you do that all day?

It's not DSC, it just happens to be that pixel rate limit on single display output head of most 40/30 series gpus is close to entry bandwith for DSC requirement, which is what lead to this misunderstanding and myth being formed...

Can confirm this. Seems like DSC uses firmware-enforced EDID table that can't be overwritten even with CRU.
Would still like an answer to my original question if anybody here uses or have means to test 5060/70 with high-hz OLED

Any RTX series below the RTX 5000 has not enough bandwidth to run natively a 1440p 480Hz monitor without compression.
Be it by using DSC or going into a multi-head or compressed allocation state like you are saying, all of that lead to slow alt-tabbing anyway.
I have MPG 271QR QD-OLED X50 (500Hz 1440p, UHBR20 monitor). Tested on RTX 4070, RTX 5070 Ti and 9070 XT.
the only GPU that can run it without compression up until 480Hz is the RTX 5070 Ti thanks to UHBR20 (you can alt-tab quickly like on any lower res/rate monitor)
9070 XT is UHBR 13.5 so it can run 1440p natively without compression up until 360Hz above that DSC will be enabled but alt-tabbing is still fast.
RTX 4070 is the slowest for alt-tabbing and usually there is a 1-2 sec black screen when going back to windows.
Personally i don't care about any of this, it never bothered me, i don't alt-tab all day.

That monitor is a DP1.4, not UHBR20.

There's no indication, nor any report that this isn't the case.
All Blackwell GPUs have full BW UHBR20 & a higher single head pixel clock limit on both HDMI & DP.

my bad, i double checked and it's the MPG 271QR QD-OLED X50 which i own. I even made a post about it a couple months ago!

I don't have this issue on my 40 series after disabling MPOs and making sure I run games in borderless fullscreen windowed mode.
Obviously not having MPOs means I need to disable things like the Discord overlay, since it prevents borderless windowed mode from bypassing DWM composition. Fortunately Special K has an indicator to verify whether DWM is currently being bypassed or not.
