Input Latency only bad on Valorant?

Post by Montilora » Yesterday, 06:02

Hello! I've been dealing with input latency problems for years and have tried countless things to improve it.

Recently, VALORANT has become completely unplayable. It feels delayed, sluggish, and inconsistent, despite my desktop mouse feeling good and literally every other game I play feeling fine, including CS, COD, Deadlock, and Overwatch, literally any other game lol.

VALORANT has felt bad for the past month or two, with a random week where it felt normal again before getting bad. Usually, I can improve things by changing drivers or tweaking settings, but nothing seems to be working this time.

Specs: RTX 3070 Ti, Ryzen 7 5800X, 32 GB RAM, Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2, 240 Hz Zowie monitor.

I don't think my specs are necessarily relevant since this problem only happens in VALORANT, while every other game feels fine.

Any help is greatly appreciated! VALORANT is my favorite FPS, and I just want to enjoy playing competitive again. :)

Clear the shader cache—that can cause stuttering, for instance. Also, is CS installed on the same drive? If not, check the drive's health. Download LatencyMon and measure where the huge spikes occur, then compare the results. If that doesn't help, reinstall the game or the OS.

I have the same issue. been trying to fix it for a year. Same as you, whenever i tweak with a driver or power setting or bios setting, i feel a noticeable improvement for maybe one game. I think the reason recently why we don't notice the floaty feeling on desktop is because vanguard recently added an option where vanguard disables when the game isnt running, so the delay is gone when you quit the game.

I think its related to vanguard but im not 100% sure. I also notice whenever I unplug my ethernet cable. the delay goes away, which is why i think its something related to internet or vanguard.

similar specs i have to you are the same processor: ryzen 7 5800x and same gpu but without TI. I have the rog strix b550-f gaming motherboard, if you have a different motherboard or an x570 chipset let me know because i was thinking on switching motherboards to fix maybe. also let me know what ethernet chip you have on the motherboard. If I can eliminate theories, it could help me find the fix.
