Talk about overclocking displays at a higher refresh rate. This includes homebrew, 165Hz, QNIX, Catleap, Overlord Tempest, SEIKI displays, certain HDTVs, and other overclockable displays.

The yokes gave out around 350Hz (the monitor is fine when refresh rate is lowered; no CRTs were harmed), with the image bouncing up and down the screen, but 340Hz is still absolutely incredible. Imagine what modern CRTs could do!
EDIT: 344Hz also works fine.

That's Chrome. Unfortunately, I had to drop to 240p to do the 340Hz. It was more of a test to see how fast a good CRT could go and to see what extreme refresh rates felt like than an attempt to get a usable resolution. I play at 1600x1200@100Hz in almost everything or 800x600@200Hz in a few FPS games, so I have a Classified 980 on the way.

Interesting. I thought that the maximum refresh rate that CRT's were capable of was 200Hz.
I assume you have to bypass the monitor's '
out of range' protection in order to do this? If so, how exactly do you do that? I might be interested in testing higher than 170Hz on my CRT.
Also, doing this can cause permanent damage to the gun, right?

from my understanding
the gun isnt affected by high frequencies at all, especially as the pixel clock is low at these resolutions. its mostly the yoke and flyback transformer that are strained by these rates
his monitor apparently has no refresh rate limitation but he says the yokes start to malfunction at 350hz
