Is it normal to experience changes in brightness when using the Black eQualizer? I guess it's related to the darker colours being made lighter, but would just like to clarify it. Anyone else experience similar behaviour?

Yeah black equalizer actually changes several things.
On Z monitors it changed the gamma, and some of the color tones and some other things, although no one knows EXACTLY what it changes.
I do know certain values of black equalizer adjust the gamma by a preset...on the 2720Z, going from equalizer 17 to equalizer 18 sets the gamma to "1", and going from EQ 3 to EQ 2 sets the gamma to "5". Verifeid that with the gamma preset points on the Lagom gamma test.
The gamma 4 to 3 change is around Eq 8, if I recall.
I don't know what things change in between the values where the gamma is adjusted.
