Need some info on Benq XL2420G /XL2720G

Hello there. I've read a lot on blurbusters already and finally decided to register.
I just have one question of which I cannot get an answer anywhere.

The XL2420G and the XL2720G get advertised by benQ with a "classic mode" to use MBR, black eQualizer and all the other features known from the Z models + "GSync".

So my question is: Does this monitor feature everything the Z models offer just with the option for GSync?
Are there any other reasons for me to take the Z except for the lower price? (Better performance or something)

I play mainly CS GO, but besides that I play a lot of other games too.

My english is a bit rusty, sorry for typos and bad grammar and I hope you can help me with that.

It's two monitors in one.
Gsync scaler for gsync and classic module for AMD/non gsync use and connecting to consoles.

Benq would make a smart move if they added display port 1.3 and freesync to this monitor, they would be most versatile (considering the price is high they should do this)
But who knows if nvidia doesn't force gsync exclusive monitors..

Let's say I don't want to use Gsync on certain games like CS:GO and just wanna hop with classic mode instead.

Are there any diffenrences or downsites performance wise to classic mode if you compare it to the Z models?

I have a BENQ XL2420G sitting here, and can compare it to the XL2720Z that I also have.

I can confirm that you get everything that the Z-Series offers (including Strobe Utility compatibility!) with no loss of functionality -- just that the DisplayPort connection is GSYNC-only. It has everything that also is on the XL2720Z that I also have. All XL2420G's ever shipped are all compatible with Strobe Utility (in Classic Mode)

Thank you so much for this very clear statement.

This is just the answer I needed. Perfect :)

You're welcome!

For finding out where to get them, look them up in the List of 120Hz+ Monitors and List of GSYNC Monitors.

And this is why benq will always be my favorite monitor company.
They even sent me a new S-switch after I called them on the phone and told them the original one broke. The next day.

That being said, it's pretty incredible that a gigantic company like Asus (who has far more money than Benq for R&D) couldn't think of something like this with their ROG Swift....

I've been waiting for the XL2720G for so long, that I'm now kind of expecting Benq to implement 1.3/Freesync. If the XL2720G that eventually gets released (IF it is still getting released) is the same one unveiled 12 months ago, that's going to be somewhat disappointing regardless.

Really want a 27 inch 1080P monitor that can double both for high-fps PC gaming and as a console monitor. They need to release it already.

Hmm, just did a search on twitter for "XL2720G" and first hit was a tweet from the Benq America account on Nov 10, 2014 saying:
"@nvmisfit This unit will not be released in America."

So I guess that was their announcement to stop waiting for the 2720G? Bummer.

And they haven't announced any other 27inch 1080p Gsync monitor at CES. Guess I can just look elsewhere then. Too bad for Benq.
