Hello

I just got my benq xl2420z v3 yesterday,
it didn't look good at all, I tried to change the settings by myself but it was still not good at all,
so I searched the internet and I found xl2420z review on pcmonitors.info and there settings,
I applied pcmonitors.info settings :

Picture Mode= Standard
Brightness= 100
Contrast= 50
Gamma= 5
Blur Reduction= On
Color Temperature= User Mode
Red= 95
Green= 92
Blue= 100
and there 120Hz ICC profile

I also applied the VT1502 trick on nvidia control panel
nvidia digital vibrance @ 60

blur busters strobe utility:
persistence @ 1.5ms
crosstalk all the way to the left

the monitor become much better,
but it's still not very good, I mean the colors looks washed out and the black color/level is not good at all, and generally it doesn't look very good, my old samsung 2333sw plus tn monitor from 2009/2010 was much better and I didn't even played with it's settings.
and also videos/movies doesn't look good even with the movie picture mode osd.

So is there a better settings ?
one for video games and another for movies.

btw we don't have calibration device in my country.

I changed digital vibrance to 65, Color Temperature to normal and I used digitalversus icc profile,
it looks better but still not like my old monitor, especially the black color/level.

changed Color Temperature to:
Red= 95
Green= 100
Blue= 100

there is still something wrong with the colors in video games.

Wow, do you really have brightness set to 100? That's ... torture The screen is so brutally bright that going 100 is blinding.

Anyway, I've got the same screen, here are my settings:

Mode = Standard
Brightness = 0
Contrast = 10
Gamma 5
Red = 100
Green = 90
Blue = 65

Then in the Nvidia control panel:
Gamma = 0.80
Digital vibrance = 56%

You may increase blue a little bit if it's too warm for you (though I definitely wouldn't have blue higher than red on this screen), but do yourself a favor and lower the brightness, you'll most likely have the colors become better once you won't have to wear sunglasses to watch this screen at 100 without hurting your eyes

Oh and BTW - regardless of the settings, please make sure that you've definitely started with the standard mode. When I first got it, I've had my custom profile based on the FPS mode without realizing it and in this mode, no matter what you do, the colors will be abysmal.

You need brightness 100 if you intend to use strobing (blur reduction). Strobing cuts down on the lumens by a huge factor, so the screen is too dark to use blur reduction at brightness 0.
Besides, when using blur reduction, you can always lower the brightness AND increase the blur reduction quality by lowering the persistence! Try 0.5ms persistence (strobe duty 003) with using a VT 1500 tweak at 100 or 120hz, with brightness set to 100. Then you get a nice, pleasing not bright and slightly dim screen with much better than lightboost quality. If 0.5ms is too dim, try 1.0ms. I would not go above 1ms, however.

as for the monitor the only thing I don't like about it, as I said before is the black level, it's really bad!
what ever osd setting and icc profile I use the black level is still bright/white

That's 1000:1 static contrast for you . The only way to change the black level significantly is reducing brightness or strobe length, but that also reduces the total brightness, so you still get more or less the same contrast.

Oh, and in my case lower refresh rates have better black levels. Compare 60Hz and 120Hz yourself.
