PLS or IPS ULMB

Since acer XB270HU is ips monitor with 1440p resolution monitor, can we expect to get 24 inch 1080p resolution version monitor cause I want to use ULMB with ips and I will be buying single 980 gtx and it will not output that much fps to maintain the fps for 100 hz or even 85 hz ulmb on 1440p. I am hoping 24 inch 1080p resolution might help me with this or should I wait on gpu from pascal series come later in 2016 I hope. I will be keeping gpu for 5 years so I might wait if it is not capable for this kind of investment.

Or am I over thinking this as gpu stand point and 980 gtx can deliver that much fps for 1440p or 1080p. I am willing to turn off aa, shadows etc which improves given visuals but will not turn down the texture etc which actually give more visual information. but still I am looking to use the same gpu without adding for sli or replacing it in 5 years to come.
My cpu is i5 3570k overclocked to 4.2 ghz so that will not be bottle neck for any gpu in future too I hope.

The GTX 980 may not be enough run most games at 1440p and maintain 100fps unless compromises are made. You'll have to go SLI or 1080p for sure. As far as I know there aren't any 1080p IPS or PLS panels on the way with ULMB or any other type of strobing.

i am willing to use 85hz refresh rate for ULMB, will it still be not usable at those res with 980 gtx? I used to game at 85hz crt if it can maintain fps for that I might consider not waiting and buying 980gtx but I can wait as such kind of monitors take years to come to my country(pakistan) for regular sales and until they become available I will be waiting for them as well as gpu to buy. I hope my wait is better for me to have new gen gpu and lower res monitor with ulmb or atleast new gen gpu to handle 1440 at max :P.
