XL2411Z Benq Blur Reduction vs fps ingame and Hz.

Post by kepasapl » 15 Apr 2015, 17:05

Hey,

I wonder how much fps and Hz do I need to have to use BlurReduction properly. I usually play CS:GO with fps_max 100 ( so I have got stable 99fps) and play on 100Hz. Is that correct to use BlurReduction? Or it's better to setup higher fps and 120/144Hz? Will it works better with BlurReduction?

Best regards,
Dominik

I don't think it matters as long as you can't see anything wrong. For example I can't use Blur Reduction with anything less than 85 as it makes me feel sick. Either 100 or 120 with the tweak is fine.

Does really TVTweaks makes a huge difference? I haven't try them yet.

VT tweaks extend the blanking interveral so the screen has more time to complete a full refresh transition. Chief explained that usually this refresh takes 0.5 millseconds, but using Lightboost mode or increasing the vertical total to 1350-1500 VT for Benq blur reduction mode, increases the blanking interval time from 0.5ms to 2-4 ms.

The effect of this, since the screens refresh from top to bottom, is that the strobe crosstalk (the thick double image stuff you can see in test ufo/alien invasion) at the bottom of the screen, gets pushed further down the screen or mostly offscreen, because there's more time to complete a transition. So yes, Vertical total tweaks definitely improve image quality when using strobing, mainly at the bottom area of the screen.

Man according to what you have written I shouldn't use VT tweaks cuz it gonna increases the blanking interval time from 0.5ms to 2-4 ms, right? Or am I misunderstanding something?

EDIT:
Right now I can't find a VT tweaks tutorial on blur buster. Could you link me it?
