What cable do I need for 1440p?

Hi, I bought a 60Hz BenQ BL2420PT 23.8" 2K resolution IPS monitor.
Link: http://www.benq.com.au/product/monitor/ ... fications/
It has these inputs: D-sub / DVI-DL / DP1.2 / HDMI1.4 / headphone jack / line in
My VGA is a GTX760 Mars (dual GPU card)
Link: https://www.asus.com/au/ROG_ROG/ROG_MAR ... fications/
It has these outputs options.
DVI Output : Yes x 2 (DVI-I), Yes x 1 (DVI-D)
HDMI Output : Yes x 1 (via DVI to HDMI adaptor x 1 )
Display Port : Yes x 1 (Mini DP)
HDCP Support : Yes
I have read that HDMI doesn't like resolutions over 1080p (or simply can't display it over 30FPS) and my VGA doesn't support D-SUB.
So, if I use a mini display port cable to display port (like the cable in the link below). Will I get the optimal feature set of my screen?

I did buy a different brand of such cable from a different retailer but it was a cheap low bandwidth version that doesn't support 1440p so I have to return it. And I don't want to risk losing money on shipping this time around.
