Hey guys just picked up a benq xl2420g and was wondering i know i need the DP cable for Gsync mode on this monitor

But if i want to use classic mode can i still use the DP? instead of DVI? i dont need to have the 2 cables connected do i?

Yes you can use the same DP Port for both.
XL2420G is 100% identical to XL2420Z in Z mode when you switch to the classic scaler.
