G-Sync Alt Tab Glitch?

Just got the Acer xb2420h from microcenter 3 days ago. While in windowed fullscreen, fullscreen, or windowed mode, when I alt tab/click a different window, the fps in game drops to 20fps or so. I was wondering if this is just a g-sync thing or what? I have fullscreen and windowed in nvidia control panel enabled. Also in league of legends loading screen the screen with flicker a bunch and freeze partially for about 5 seconds. I've read up on this too, but just want to be sure these are all normal g-sync things, and not just my monitor being broken. Btw I have a single gtx 970 graphics card.
