XL2420TE not working with GTX 1080

My new 1080 will not allow my 144hz monitor to use a refresh rate above 60hz when using the displayport.

I tried wiping the drivers with a tool, playing with the custom refresh rates and nothing would work. A custom refresh rate of 100hz can be made but I don't believe its actually delivering that. I tried two different cables, they're Displayport 1.2 I believe.

The monitor is a BenQ XL2420TE. I'm using the stock firmware when I bought in October 2013.

It will work over the 1080's DVI port but that is it, and there is only one DVI port which is no good for multiple monitors.

I put my 590 card back in and it works fine again over displayport, all the refresh rates are immediately recognized and its visually clear that is working.

Sent info to EVGA to see if they have any ideas.

There's no fix for this, unless Benq updated their older T series monitors proactively to enable Displayport compatibility.

The same bug affected the XL2420Z and XL2720Z initially also, but was fixed on V4 firmware. The XL2420TE and XL2420Z have the same base firmware code besides changes for LBL and blur reduction, which is why the same bug occurs (you can even flash a XL2420TE firmware into a XL2420Z with a Mstar ISP unit and the monitor will be fully functional).

Contact Benq to see if they have a firmware update for this monitor. If they don't have a firmware update for those older Lightboost only monitors, your best bet is to upgrade to a XL2420Z (V4 firmware+) or XL2720Z (V4+).

Well I put my 590 in to test it and it worked. And I just now put the 1080 back in and it remembered the 120hz lightboost configuration without issue.

I'll post back if I have any more trouble.
