Latency of 240hz G-Sync vs 240hz Fast Sync.

Just was curious, I know that a big benefit of 240hz panels is that the added delay from using g-sync is greatly reduced. I was curious if a similar claim can be made with fast sync on 240hz panels. If 240hz also elimiates the slight increase in input lag when using fast sync I see less of a reason to pay for a g-sync module.

Generic Quesiton: Standard 240hz vs 180hz G-sync which would you take?

At the same framerate, while within the VRR range, the difference in latency between these technologies should be negligible. Now there may be some variation in the latency of various monitors from both groups, so a particular g-sync monitor might have higher or lower latency when compared to a similar freesync monitor. At 240hz though the difference shouldn't be very big, because all of them should be TN panels with firmware that prioritizes low latency.

Nope, that would be very big news.

At the same price? I'd take 180hz G-sync over 240hz.

Although i agree with Sparky it would also depend on what panel we are talking about, a overclocked 144hz to 180 will not look as good as a native 240 running at 180hz. You get gamma and overdrive issues when pushing a panel. But i suppose i would still take 180hz.

Ok thanks for the reply's. I personally have never gotten the opportunity to use/compare the experience of a g-sync monitor. What do people think about g-sync? Is it worth it in most peoples opinion or no?

VRR makes a framerate look preferable to slightly higher frame rates, up to about 40-50% higher.

This means 180fps GSYNC looks visually better than 250fps@240Hz VSYNC OFF

Given how expensive the graphics cards have become due to cryptocurrency, it is worth the GSYNC premium. It is like getting a cheap graphics card upgrade since no framerate increase is needed to make the framerate look much nicer. How would you like to purchase the niceness of 50% more frame rate for only $100-150 more? :D

See simulated demo at http://www.testufo.com/gsync -- but in practice, it can look better than that in many VRR friendly games.

AFAIK TN panels itself have no firmware at all. Monitor internals that connected to LCD panel have firmware.
