Apart from noticeable differences while gaming and moving mouse cursor, what else visual benefits could be seen while using a higher refresh rate on Windows? Going from 60hz to 120hz. While watching videos which are limited to 60fps, I don't think there would be any advantage.

120Hz:
  • Less motion blur while scrolling web pages.
  • Less input lag while typing text.
  • Generally "snappier" feel on everything you do.
  • Perfect playback of 24FPS, 30FPS and 60FPS video. (60Hz can't play 24FPS perfectly.)

There are more benefits than I thought, perfect answer with no confusing factors at all :)

I would say its important, but not vital or as necessary as other components.

I would add Less eye strain aswell. Sure is just my personal experience, but could apply to other users!

I notice that when I do a lot of text and web browsing on 60hz I get eye strain and a bit of motion sickness sometimes. As soon as I go to 120hz I feel like a "relief" on my eyes and brain ,wich I cant explain properly. Hope you understood it anyway :)

Can assure you that even if I dont play first person shooters or use non gaming rigs, I will ALWAYS use a 120hz monitor. Right now this causes me problems with laptops for example. Only beefy gaming laptops have 120hz/144hz panels and I only need a lower end one. However all those models are 60hz and I refuse to use them!

I love 120hz so much, can't wait to get a projector that has it since I watch most of my content via my PC on my current 1080p DLP. The latest crop of 4K-ish DLPs have 1080p 120hz native input.

Dragging windows around, playing games, watching shows with smoothing on, everything rocks at 120hz, although right now I have to drop to 720p to get it and on a projector that's a serious drawback so I rarely do it. DLPs I think are superb for motion especially at high frame / refresh rates.
