Hello,

I've just bought a XL2546 after seeing good praise on review websites, but after a few hours of use, and reading some thread on this forum, buying the XL2546 might not have been a good idea for my use, a mix of singe player heavy gpu games running at 60fps (awful motion blur on assassin's creed odyssey) and multiplayer game like Titanfall2, BFV running between 80-144fps, because of the motion blur displayed at low framerate compared to the refresh rate used.

Should I send it back, and take the XL2536 instead? I want either the XL2546 or XL2536 because of the design, and I need HDMI 2.0 port, I have issue with Displayport that I don't with HDMI 2.0.

Can someone confirm me that buying a XL2536 will be better than the XL2546 for less motion blur and equivalent input lag with my RTX 2080 and the game I play and the framerate I can achieve in them?

I presume you are familiar with Motion Blur Reduction.

Non-DyAc situation
Assuming identical overdrive tuning and identical ghosting, 144fps on XL2546 and XL2536 theoretically should look identical, since it's all sample-and-hold motion blur (if you turned DyAc off). It's possible the XL2536 MAY look better in this situation, but it may be marginal or unnoticeable to your eyes. However, the important question is....do you use DyAc? If you do, then you definitely want to keep the 240Hz BenQ.

Do you use DyAc?
If you kept DyAc enabled (strobe backlight based motion blur reduction), simply switch your refresh rate to 120Hz or 144Hz. The great news is that 144Hz DyAc looks MUCH better on the XL2546 than 144Hz strobed on the 144Hz BenQs. There's less strobe crosstalk XL2536, assuming you do the correct strobe calibration (e.g. Large Vertical Totals to reduce the strobe crosstalk double images). So you're getting better 144Hz strobed clarity (if you switch your 240hz to 144Hz) on the XL2546 than the XL2536, meaning, if you're a fan of motion blur reduction modes, the 240Hz premium was worth it. You simply have to follow the Strobe Crosstalk FAQ to reduce your crosstalk. The animations in this thread will help explain end user strobe tuning.

Non-DyAc 144fps on 144Hz versus 240Hz
There are indeed situations where 144fps has looked worse on a 240Hz than 144Hz. But it is not universally always the case -- The caveat is that there is overlapping situations. Where 144fps on a good 240Hz looks better than 144fps on a worst 144Hz monitor. The similarity of 144Hz is extremely close on both XL2536 and XL2546 to the point where I'm not sure which one is better in non-DyAc 144fps. But I definitely know that DyAc will look better at the same Hz (e.g. 120Hz DyAc on the 240Hz looks better than 120Hz DyAc on the 144Hz) once you maxed-out your large vertical total tweaks on the corresponding monitors.
Hertz headroom is hugely beneficial for motion blur reduction (the more you reduce Hz below max, the better strobing looks).

Do you use DyAc ON or DyAc OFF?

If you use DyAc ON, then try this:
1. Switch refresh rate to 120Hz or 144Hz
2. Turn on DyAc
3. Use Blur Busters Strobe Utility to adjust the location of the crosstalk band (animation).
4. Now you've got much better clarity; better DyAc at 144Hz than you'll get with a 144Hz BenQ

One last question, is it possible to force a specific refresh rate for everything? Seems like the answer after some research is no?
With nvidia drivers/profile inspector, it's either application controlled or maximum refresh rate.
