Proper settings for CS:GO?

Hey guys, just joined this forum and I thought this is as good as it gets to help answering my questions about monitors.

I just purchased a Asus VG278QR 165Hz and I like it but currently I run g-sync with 165hz but I hear people saying going with 120hz and ulmb is better for FPS, anyone here who could help me sort this out?

Just want to make the most out of my new monitor.

Thanks in advance, cheers!

It's personal preference. I personally prefer higher FPS with g-sync and a suitable FPS cap. Other people prefer g-sync OFF, vsync OFF, uncapped FPS. Others prefer ULMB. My opinion:

Best if you want lowest latency: g-sync OFF, vsync OFF, uncapped FPS.
Best if you want the smoothest gameplay with low latency: g-sync ON + FPS cap to prevent vsync lag.
Best if you want lowest motion blur but a bit higher latency: ULMB.

Thanks for the answer my man, with this do you mean fps cap in cs?

Yes. With a native g-sync monitor at 165Hz I use fps_max 162. But with "g-sync compatible" freesync monitors there are driver bugs that might require a much lower FPS cap to prevent vsync lag. I don't know :-/

Oh yeah? Actually I have microstuttering in CS:GO, dunno if it's the monitor tho, is g-sync even good in cs? :O

I don't have microstutter in competitive mode. I do in casual mode because people leave/join all the time and this creates stutter.

G-Sync is good in CS:GO in the same way it's goond in any other way. It gets rid of tearing without paying the latency cost of vsync. Sure, g-sync off vsync OFF @ 300FPS will give you a bit lower latency, but I don't care about that because CS:GO doesn't reach 300FPS on my system anymore (it did 5 years ago, not anymore.) Now it averages 170-200FPS, so a 161FPS cap with g-sync is fine for me. Also, I don't play CS:GO at low settings with 1024x768 4:3 of something like that. I use high settings at 2560x1440. I want the games I play to look good :)
