Dear Chief, Gsync = 144fps only?

Will Gync lock my framerate at 144fps in my games, after i set my monitors refresh rate at 144hz? Or will my games be pushed past 144fps on the counter say if i look at water or there is not much going on.
When i look at the sky in battlefield 4 in a 64 man conquest it locks at 200, then goes down 20-50 fps when i get back into the action and move around.

Welcome to the forum JoD.
Your frame rate will cap at 144fps using G-sync.

Thank you, This forum is better than some classes in my opinion.
How will using g-sync benefit a user with a 144hz monitor? Once the frame rate goes below 144fps it will still feel like your playing at 144fps?

Actually it's gonna be better below 144fps. If you hit 144fps on a 144Hz monitor, G-Sync will behave like V-Sync. Meaning input lag. It's best if you cap your game's framerate at about 3fps lower (meaning 141fps in this case.)
As for how G-Sync feels below 144fps, it feels like V-Sync but without input lag. For example, 100fps G-Sync feels like 100fps on a 100Hz mode with V-Sync but without the input lag.

I thought G-sync is supposed to remove the effects of V-sync like the stutter and input lag. I will still get stuttering with 144hz enabled and G-sync at the same time?

Stuttering:
V-sync produces stutters when the frame rate drops below the refresh rate. G-sync alleviates this issue by synchronizing the refresh rate with the frame rate. You'll get no stutter using G-sync.
For more detailed explanation on how G-sync alleviates stuttering:

Input lag:
The input lag will be similar to V-sync ON at 144fps.
But if you cap your frame rate slightly below your maximum refresh rate, the input lag will then be similar to V-sync OFF.

There is no stutter with V-Sync if FPS output is the same as monitor frequency. 100FPS on 100Hz has zero stuttering. This is what you asked: how does G-Sync feel like with FPS lower than 144. And the answer is, it feels like V-Sync at that Hz. There is no stutter. If FPS falls even more, like 90FPS, then G-Sync feels like V-Sync at 90Hz. Again, no stutter.
Stutter with V-Sync only happens if FPS falls below the monitor's frequency (like 90FPS in a 120Hz mode.) G-Sync helps in preventing that from happening by reducing the monitor's frequency to match the game's FPS output. V-Sync can't do that.
And in addition, unlike V-Sync, you get less input lag.
